Bingley U15s. -Vs- U15s - Away

05 Apr 2009
Kick-off 11:00

Draw: 2 - 2

We arrive for our return match against Bingley at Gilstead playing fields, on a fine and breezy spring morning, but as we arrive we are quite late to the grounds due to road works at Shipley and are straight on the back foot as we do not have time to warm up at all, but we won’t let a small detail like that get in our way today!
After what seemed like quite a long while we finally get a hold of the ball, after a solid tackle by Mr Reliable Jamie Sugden, Oli gets the ball at his feet and spots Liam bursting a gut down our right and Liam receives an inch perfect ball from Oli and is unlucky to see his effort go wide of the mark, but a good relieving stint for our over worked back line.
On our left today we have Danny Mouatt at full back and in left midfield we have Lewis Coupe, who in my opinion was to go on and prove why Roger bent over backwards to sign him and what a pleasure it was to see!
On our right we have to afore mentioned Liam and his right back today is the impressive Jordan Mullaney and these two also were to go on and give a very good account of themselves numerous times during today’s proceedings.
Back to the action and it is Lewis again who starts off a good move involving him, Liam and Oli and Spencer is just wide of the mark with the resulting shot, as we start to get a grip on the game and silence the home support.
As the action ebbs and flows, it is noticeable that Thomas Dolby has turned up this week ( and by that I mean the one who was head and shoulders above any opposition defender week in week out last season) and emphasises the fact by winning two superb tackles which he had no right to !
Roger does not seem to be happy with his central midfield pairing of James and Mr Hizzett and the latter is replaced by Nick after, putting himself about and Nick is straight into the thick of it stopping another dangerous Bingley raid.
Half time and Roger tells it as it is, “I am glad to see that you have all turned up this week, keep up the good work”.
We restart and James plays the ball to Oli and he sends Spencer clear, he beats two defenders and plays in a brilliant cross towards the hard working Liam and he heads home coolly and to be honest at this stage no more than we deserve 0-1.
We seem to sit back for a while and Ben has to make not one but two full length diving saves to keep our lead intact and just when things were looking wobbly, Lewis beats a couple of defenders again and picks out the supporting Oli and he delivers another killer ball and once more Spencer outpaces his man and slots coolly home 0-2.
Oli is subbed for super Danny Scott after a good day at the office and from then on, it all seemed to go pair shaped . We were to be left in shock as there was only 7 minutes left 0-2 to us and as the full time whistle sounded it was 2-2, nothing that any of us on the pitch could have done about it, just two superb finishes!
I know that the feeling was to say the least sombre at the final whistle but, that as they say is football thats why it is called the beautiful game.
Man of the match went to Oli, for a masterful display and others of note in my opinion were, Jamie Sugden, Spencer, Lewis and last but by no means least Liam.
So another season over and another year nearer open age, for our young fledgling side, summer well and good luck to all.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Elvis has left the building!

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Lewis Coupe, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Danny Mouatt, Jordan Mullaney, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Danny Scott, Josh Spencer (1), Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Liam Wilkinson (1).

U15s -Vs- Eldwick U15s - Home

29 Mar 2009
Kick-off 14:00

Lost: 2 - 3

It’s a beautiful sunny afternoon and we are all looking to carry on the good work we started last week against Bingley and are by no means underestimating today’s opponents, Eldwick who sit surprisingly rooted to the bottom of the table?
We kick of and are straight onto the front foot, James and Lewis lookup for the fight and Dale who is today playing at left back, shows us what a versatile player that he is by bombing forward at every opportunity and creating mayhem down their right flank.
We continue to press through Spencer and his new partner up front Oli and they combine well several times and James delivers several clinical through balls which either were saved or were just wide of the mark, for one reason or another!
Danny “BCFC” Scott is today starting on the right side of midfield and is working hard to track back and help out an over worked Jordan Mullaney as, Eldwick start to push us back for the first time in the game and it is not long before we find ourselves behind to a Penalty which, we conceded needlessly 0-1 and it was like ground hog day all over again, I am sure you all know what I mean by that!
We kick off and loose the ball cheaply in the middle and to be honest , look like we can’t be bothered, we give a way a cheap free kick right at the edge of our box and the resulting kick was slotted home cleverly, leaving Ben with no chance, 2-0 and I for one am starting to wonder why I bother giving my time up when, no one listens to a word that we have said!!!
Half time and Tony can’t bring himself to speak so, Rodger tells it as it is, “not worth turning up if that’s all the effort that most of you can muster!!!
We start the second half much the same as the first and push Eldwick back and this time Lewis is on hand to Cooley slot home 1-2 and we are back in with a shout.
We win the ball back through the impressive Jamie Sugden and he plays in Mr Hizzett who, lifts the ball through for Spencer and he outpaces their overworked back line and slots home 2-2 and Eldwick at this stage , to be honest looked like a beaten side!
Roger shuffles his pack and Brings off Scotty and Oli (after both working hard off of the ball), for Liam and Nick respectively .
Lewis is replaced by Charlie a few minutes later (after what I thought was his best performance in an Idle shirt) but, we are now starting to tire and Mr Dolby and Jamie Sugden make sure that we are still on level terms but, even they are helpless as we are penalised again and are made to pay 2-3, once more leaving Ben with no chance and as has happen to often this season we come away with nothing!!!
MAN OF THE Match went to Jamie Sugden and I thought others of note were Spencer and Ben, but at the end of the day, we were just not up for it!!!

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Lewis Coupe (1), Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Jordan Mullaney, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Danny Scott, Josh Spencer (1), Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Charlie Vincent, Liam Wilkinson.

U15s -Vs- Bingley U15s - Home

22 Mar 2009
Kick-off 14:00

Lost: nil - 2

Well what a glorious day for football, a little windy to be honest, but dry and firm none the less.
Today’s opponents Bingley are one place above us in the table and are quite a few peoples favourites for the ultimate prize, the division B Title. We on the other hand have exceeded what we set out to do and that is finish mid table, after gaining promotion last season, so today’s game will provide us with a good measure of how far that we have really progressed!
We start with the now strong wind blowing in our faces but, are the only team who look likely to break the dead lock early on!
James Bennett, Jordan Hizzett and Lewis in particular, look to be up for it and create several half chances between them, but unfortunately none are able to register.
Jamie Sugden and his partner in crime The great Mr Dolby are at the top of their game and make several crucial challenges, as our guests start to get a grip on the game and in particular the centre of midfield!.
At full back today we have Jordan Mullaney at right back and Danny Mouatt at left back and both were to go on and play a vital part as again, Bingley push forward menacingly.
Upfront Josh Spencer is working his socks off and along side him Jack “Warby” Warburton has sprung to life and is now starting to produce on the pitch, the talents which he shows every week in training (really pleasing to the eye).
Just before half time Harry who is playing in his usual right midfield birth, breaks their line and crosses for Spencer who’s shot goes agonisingly wide of the post with the Bingley keeper looking on helplessly and that was enough for the ref to signal the end of a very entertaining first half, in which both teams played attractive creative football.
The half time talk is about how pleased we are to see everyone trying their best and from a coach’s point of view, you cannot ask for more!!!
This half we have the wind at our backs and start to use Spencer and Warbys pace to the full, several times James, Jordan how did I miss that Hizzett and Lewis really are now bossing the middle of the park and it is a mystery as to how we are still level.
No sooner said than done and we fall behind, a long ball over the top, a wicked bounce and a poor refereeing decision is all it took to undo all of our good work and thankfully Ben our keeper is able to pick himself up despite raking stud marks from just below his knee downwards, that said the Bingley player involved was totally blameless but , he did accidentally catch Ben with his studs as the ball bounced spasmodically but this was somehow missed by inept officiating, but as they say “that’s football” and we just get on with it, they can only give what they see!.
The game restarts after a lengthy delay due to the treatment administered to Ben and Roger has left it clear in our minds that “what’s done is done” and we must just simply carry on from where we left off!
Jordan Hizzett is replaced by Liam , after a very encouraging display to say the least and it was also encouraging to see Nick (the man whom Jordan replaced in the starting line up , clapping him off, such is the team spirit which we are trying to build here), and it is Liam himself who rampages forward and feeds James who’s effort is agonisingly wide of the mark.
Harry is then replaced by Dale, after working his socks off and Dale immediately causes mayhem amongst their over worked back line!
Despite our best efforts once again we are undone by another long ball and this time we could not dispute the end result, a well taken strike indeed 0-2 and we visibly seem to wilt!
Jordan Mullaney is replaced by Oli , after being more than a match against a very tricky opponent and then picking up a knock and Oli seems determined to regain his starting spot and makes a couple of crunching (but fair) challenges, to try to halt their momentum but, it is that man Ben showing his bravery despite his obvious discomfort, that keeps the score line as it is!
Lewis (Mini) is replaced by Danny “BCFC” Scott, after a very impressive display but, we are still on the back foot and for the first time in the entire game Jamie and Mr Dolby are breached but, Scotty puts in a brilliant saving header and that as they say is that!
We were more than a match for todays opponents and matched them in every department, the effort was there for all to see and believe me, that’s all that we can ask!!!
Thanks to the unused sub Nick who, is the first to admit that it is all about the Squad and not just the team on the pitch!
Man of the match deservedly goes to , but in our minds, all 16 of you deserve it!!!!
Also I feel it is worth a note that Bingley U15s are an absolutely smashing bunch of Lads who, play a great game and play it hard and fair and no doubt when they are promoted, will sit comfortably amongst the big boys, in division A.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Lewis Coupe, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Danny Mouatt, Jordan Mullaney, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Harry Rowe, Danny Scott, Josh Spencer, Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Jack Warburton, Liam Wilkinson.

Calverley Juniors U15s -Vs- U15s - Away

15 Mar 2009
Kick-off 10:30

Draw: 1 - 1

Today we are away to Calverley on what is a beautiful sunny spring morning and one which is conducive to football, but the pitch is very uneven but as they say is the same for both teams.
We kick off and are straight onto the front foot and push our hosts back for the first ten minutes of so, James and Jamie Sugden in particular catch the eye!
Our hosts start to get a grip on the game and it is Jamie again combined with Danny Mouatt and Mr Dolby and a couple of brave “at the feet saves” from Ben that keep the score at 0-0!
Good tackling by Nick in the centre and a clever lob from Oli sends Spencer galloping clear, but unfortunately he has to hurry his shot and it goes harmlessly for a goal kick.
As we start to control the middle of the park again, Nick wins another tackle and manages to play in James who, plays a slide rule ball through to the very mobile Lewis (mini) and he earns us a corner, James obliges with another inch perfect ball and Charlie tucks home 0-1 and to be honest at that stage, I thought that we deserved the lead, despite what we thought were several unfair comments from the opposition manager!
That said the Calverley team that mattered, the one on the pitch are a very good and honest bunch and certainly are a fine example for their club and they prove this, especially towards the end of the first period, as Jamie and Ben combine to keep them at bay on several occasions but, all it was to end up level as they afore mentioned are only human and we concede to a well taken clinical strike 1-1and what a kick in the proverbials that was, just before half time.
The talk from Roger is one of disappointment, “we are asleep but, are here on level terms, so lets go and get all three points”, Tony is straight to the point and says “not good enough boys, only half of you look interested, do you want to be here?” and finally Bob adds “not enough of you are putting your foot on the ball, if you don’t start soon, it will be too late!”.
We restart and are straight on the back foot and struggle to put more than two passes together, Roger is worried (despite handing out the mints) and brings Charlie off for Jack (Warby) Warburton and Oli is replaced by Jordan Mullaney but still we have no shape and Jamie and Nick in particular keep us in the game making several crucial interceptions. Roger is still not happy and Harry is replaced by Jordan how I missed that Hizzett, after another lung bursting display. Mini has to give way to Dale and finally we string together a succession of passes (well one worth a mention to be honest) and it is James who slides the ball through to Jack but he cannot shake off his marker and plays in Spencer, whose shot is narrowly wide.
We finish the half as we started it and thankfully Jordan Mullaney is able to combine with Ben and keep us on level terms.
Full time and in my opinion, we were lucky to get anything at all out of this game and I know that if I were in Calverleys shoes, I would have been well miffed , given that we were chasing shadows, for most of the second half.
All in all if I can be honest, we need to look at ourselves in the mirror long and hard and think if some of us really want to play football in a proper league and have the stomach to compete against good teams like Calverley? It’s not fair on the lads who try week in week out and more to the point three lads who did not get on the pitch today!!
Well played to Man of the Match Ben and other players of note were, Jamie, James and I thought Nick (despite wandering occasionally) in my opinion.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Lewis Coupe, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Danny Mouatt, Jordan Mullaney, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Harry Rowe, Danny Scott, Josh Spencer, Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Charlie Vincent (1), Jack Warburton.

Prospect U15s A. -Vs- U15s - Away

08 Mar 2009
Kick-off 10:30

Won: nil - 1

Well, we are back to the scene of our worst display of the season, the result being 9-2 to today’s opponents.
Our guys seem to be pretty upbeat and look like they actually want to play.
We kick off playing downhill with the wind at our backs, we start brightly and our passing is crisp and sharp, indeed we are knocking the ball around well, but one more than one occasion over hit the final ball. We have to be on our guard as, Prospect break away at pace and leave Ben stranded as the ball ricochets off of our upright!
The game continues to be an end to end classic and Spencer is unlucky to see his effort go the wrong side of the post, after good work from Captain James.
Prospect test us again and young Suggy and Danny Mouatt combine well, to keep us in the game on more then one occasion and they are helped out by Nick , tackling hard in his defensive midfield birth.
Half time and Tony rings the changes, off comes Oli after a good passing display and on comes Jordan Mullaney in his place, Charlie is replaced by Dale, after putting in another good cameo performance and Nick is replaced by the Thomas Simpson, after tackling everything that moved.
The second half starts just as the first, with both teams squabbling for possession, but it is Prospect who look the more likely to break the dead lock and we are thankful that Ben is in good form between our sticks as, twice he has to make breath taking saves!
Lewis (mini) and Harry are replaced by Super Danny Scott and the Great Mr Hizzett respectively, after both giving a good account of themselves and it is indeed Super Dan that nearly turns the game in our favour as, he picks out that man James up the wing and he provides the perfect final pass to Spencer who’s shot is inches wide!
As the game seems to be heading for a draw once more Ben comes to our rescue, Prospects left winger cuts inside and sends a superb shot heading for our top corner, only to hold his head in his hands in anguish, as Ben gets a strong fist to the ball and pulls off one of the saves of the season!
The resulting corner see’s us clear the ball to Dale who, as only he can leaves two defenders for dead and delivers a clinical through ball to Spencer who , rounds his man and slots home coolly 0-1 and that as they say is that !
Tony is happy and he tells all 16 players that they all gave 100% and deserved the victory, indeed it was a pleasure to see!
Man of the match award to Danny Mouatt and deservedly so !
Thanks to Tony for his Match report and running the team in the absence of Bob and Roger.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Lewis Coupe, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Danny Mouatt, Jordan Mullaney, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Harry Rowe, Danny Scott, Thomas Simpson, Josh Spencer (1), Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Charlie Vincent.

Queensbury U15s -Vs- U15s - Away

22 Feb 2009
Kick-off 13:30

Lost: 2 - 1

What a cold February morning, it is absolutely freezing as we get out of our cars at Queensbury’s mountain top home.
Today Roger has to shuffle his pack, as we have our usual back four missing in it’s entirety for one reason or another, but that means it’s a good chance for our replacements to shine and stake a claim for a regular starting place!
We kick off and as we have done so many times before “ are caught cold”, a long ball over the top and we fail to clear it, nothing that Ben could do as it sailed over his head into the top corner 1-0.
To be honest, as stated earlier, we had several players missing and others playing out of position , add to that , that a very strong Artic wind was blowing into our faces, so it was no surprise that we did take quite some time to settle.
Josh Mazurke’s unfortunate injury only helped to compound the fact and he was replaced by Dale, after only 10 minutes of the match had elapsed!
James and Liam combined together cleverly in patches and carved out half a chance for Spencer, who can only snap at the ball, which goes harmlessly for a goal kick, but at least it was a signal of positive intent!
New boys Charlie Vincent and Lewis Coupe (Rogers latest signings) are making their respective debuts in midfield and acquit themselves well, until Charlie is replaced by the great Mr Hizzett, after running out of steam.
As the game ebbs and flows it is obvious to all with an inkling of a football brain that we are not playing football at all and indeed have only put three passes together once so far this half (despite James and Liam trying their best), so it is no surprise when we fall further behind, as Jordan Mullaney is left to mark two men and once more Ben was left a virtual spectator as Queensbury’s forward calmly slots home 2-0 and that signalled a relieving half time whistle!
Roger and Tony get all our lads together and tell them in no uncertain terms that, “ We are not playing well at all , but we are only two down and to be honest Queensbury are not playing as well as they did at our ground earlier in the season, so surely the game is still there for the taking?”.
We restart and Harry, runs clear of their back line and earns us a corner, which James skilfully places on his head and Harry slots home well 2-1 and we could be back in with a shout!
Just when you think that things are looking up, Harry who as usual has run himself into the ground has to be replaced by Nick after picking up a knock and failing to run it off.
The game seems to settle down and we are grateful to Super Danny Scott, as he and Dale combine to thwart another Queensbury raid, which would to honest have been a fair reflection of how the game had panned out, should the ball have crossed the line again.
As the final whistle sounds, we look a disjointed outfit but, as the great man said at half “ they are not playing well either”, but we were certainly well below par today and our overall display deserved what we got, Nothing!!
Well played to Man of the Match James, who deserved the accolade and other players of note were, Ben and Liam in my opinion.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Lewis Coupe, Jordan Hizzett, Josh Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Harry Rowe (1), Danny Scott, Josh Spencer, Nick Tompson, Charlie Vincent, Jack Warburton, Liam Wilkinson.

Sandy Lane u15s -Vs- U15s - Away

01 Feb 2009
Kick-off 14:00

Draw: 1 - 1

It’s certainly a cold day, as we make our way to Marley stadium on the outskirts of Keighley, for our away league fixture against Sandy Lane U15s. We always seem to have close games against the Lane and today was to prove no different!
We were late to get to the pitch as controversy filled the air, why are our coaches not talking to each other? Where is Liam and Tom Simpson, was there indeed any truth in the rumour that they had to be sold off, to try to clear the crippled clubs debts, or was it true that they were to be followed out of the club by one or more of our teams management trio??? And who were the two new recruits at training, was Rodger Scolari going to use his own vast fortune to bank roll new players to our ranks??
We kick off with the bitterly cold wind at our backs .
I thought that we played quite well in the first period and as we start to knock the ball about, we look the part and are unlucky not to take an early lead, after Oli tackled well and fed Harry who, in turn picked out Spencer, whose shot was well stopped by the Lanes stopper! We don’t stop there as Dale is played through by Jordan Hizzett and Dale skips around his giant marker and is oh so unlucky, to see his effort crack against the bar and then bounce harmlessly to safety. Then it happens as Nick wins the ball in the middle and plays it to Captain James‘s feet and he turns his man and releases Spencer and this time he makes no mistake 0-1 and at that stage, we were clearly in the driving seat.
After our goal, as so often is the case we seem to switch off and a rejuvenated Mr Dolby wins a couple of crucial challenges to keep them at bay and on the rare occasion that he is caught off guard, Jamie Sugden is even by his high standards “playing out of his skin” and protects Ben our Keeper, from any real danger!!
Half time and Roger Scolari is happy with what he is seeing and tells the boys to keep going, yes there is always room for improvement but, it’s encouraging none the less!
We restart and Nick has to hobble off, after being caught accidentally and he is replaced by Danny BCFC Scott and as we all know, he will run until he drops, indeed Danny has a hand in getting the ball through to Spencer, after good work at the back from Danny Mouatt and Spencer is again unlucky as his effort is again well saved.
Oli Limps off after trying to run off a knock he picked up late in the first half and he is replaced by Jordan Mullaney and what a pleasure it is to see him back and if we are to finish in the top half at the end of the season, we will need him back to full fitness.
As I have mentioned once or twice in earlier reports this season, we seem to go to sleep and if it was not for Ben and young Suggy and some timely interceptions from Danny Mouatt, we would have been in much more trouble than we were, but even the afore mentioned were helpless, as we lost the ball down the middle, despite the attentions of James and were made to pay, as we have been so many other times this season 1-1!!
Spencer is subbed for Jack and even a player of his undoubted class could not resurrect the situation, as the snow clouds gathered ominously and so it was to be, a final score of 1-1.
As all our lads stood around awaiting a berating from Mr Scolari after the final whistle, they were shocked as the great man spoke, “I have no complaints there lads, you tried hard and that’s all I can ask”, as still Bob remained silent and refused to comment?
Man of the Match award went deservedly to Jamie Sugden, for another barnstorming performance, well played Sir, other players who caught Scolari’s eye were, Mr Dolby, Spencer and Oli.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Danny Mouatt, Jordan Mullaney, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Harry Rowe, Danny Scott, Josh Spencer (1), Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Jack Warburton.

U15s -Vs- Prospect A U15s. - Home

25 Jan 2009
Kick-off 14:00

Draw: 2 - 2

Today is the day that we have been waiting for , for quite some time. Prospect gave us a lesson the last time that we met and we never did our self justice. We desperately needed to make a fist of it this time, or we might as well kiss promotion goodbye!
The pitch was not in the best condition to be honest, but as they say, it’s the same for both sides!
We kick off and are straight on the front foot, as we push them back, James, Liam, Dale & Spencer at the fore of all that is good in our play.
As I said earlier, Prospect are a good side and I know that they will be there or there abouts in the mix, come the end of the season. They start to push us back for the next 10 minutes and as we as we have done before, “go quiet”, by that I mean that none of us are showing for the ball, or at least wanting it, or putting our foot on it, you see we have been here before, but we didn’t go there for long this time, as Jamie Sugden wins tackle after tackle, at times single hand idly keeping them at bay.
Harry gets the ball on a few occasions and helped out by James and Spencer, who’s movement was a site to behold, but as it has done so many times this season, we conceded one against the run of play, nothing that Ben in goals could do , as a deflected shot from outside our area, looping over into the far corner of our goal 0-1 and what a shame, all that hard work , but have we turned the corner lately and now have one or two of us who will stand up and be counted, Liam, Jamie Sugden and Spencer spring to mind and it is Jamie who, breaks out from our back line plays the ball out to James Bennett, (who to be honest is looking like the old Mr Bennett of the last few seasons) and James plays in Spencer, who runs his man only for their keeper to clear his line, in a last ditch effort.
Half time and we feel a bit down, after all the pressure and hard work and to concede a goal like that (though we would have gladly taken one ourselves).
Roger addresses his young side and tells them to just put in a little bit more and we will be back in it and how right he was.
We get the ball again straight from the off and Liam makes a lung bursting run , to the edge of the box, after good work from Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett and he unselfishly plays the ball across to Dale, who is making inroads down their left flank and Dale coolly slots home 1-1 an no more than we deserve!
Roger Substitutes Jordan for Nick after a hard slog in the mud and it is Nick who wins the ball in the middle and plays it to James who , rounds his man and plays an inch perfect through ball to Spencer and he finishes well 2- 1.
As I said earlier, Prospect are a good football team and “knock it about” as good as any team at the top and are back on level terms, despite Oli and Danny Mouatt both making last ditch tackles 2-2 .
The game then becomes a little scrappy, as both teams do not seem to want to push for a winner and risk being exposed at the back and the game seems to be littered with miss timed tackles, as both teams visibly tire in the heavy muddy conditions, one such tackle leaving a Prospect player hurt and thankfully there was no lasting damage done and the young man in question was able to walk from the pitch after the game, which we all as parents were pleased to see.
The last ten minutes see’s us go with three at the back, as Prospect visibly run out of steam, Jamie pushing forward, but we were grateful for Thomas Dolby who, made a couple of well timed interceptions and Ben in goals, who a couple of times dived bravely at their advancing strikers feet, to thwart any chance of them nicking one at the death.
We just have time for Spencer, Liam, Harry and James who all, on another day would have found the net, but failed to do so , for one reason or another!
Full time and the spoils shared, Roger Scolari tells his side that all in all, that was much better in the second half and we deserved at very least a draw.
Man of the match went to Spencer, who as promised “worked his socks off”, others of note were, Jamie, Liam & James , in my opinion.
Thanks also to Josh Mazurke, who did not get on today from the substitutes bench, Roger not wanting to break up what all in all, looked a pretty tight defence, given the quality of the oppositions front line.
Well played.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick (1), Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Josh Mazurke, Danny Mouatt, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Harry Rowe, Josh Spencer (1), Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Liam Wilkinson.

U15s -Vs- Thornton travellers U15s - Home

18 Jan 2009
Kick-off 14:00

Lost: 2 - 4

Well, as they say “it`s been a long time”, in fact the last match we played, was on the 23rd of November 2008 and to be honest it showed, but not all bad news though.
Yes the score was hard to take, but to be honest Thornton in my opinion deserved all three points, but we did run them close!!
The day itself was, a bitter but dry typical January afternoon, near as perfect as we can get for this time of the year, if not a little on the muddy side, if I am being honest.
We kick off and are straight on to the front foot Harry being a good early outlet ball for us and James is playing a little deeper, trying to get things going and wanting the ball, which is always a good sign for us!
We as I have said before several times this season “fail to clear the ball” and are punished, with a well taken strike, leaving Ben our Keeper with no chance 0-1 and not a fair reflection of how the game has started!
We restart and are back on the front foot, James and Dale combine to send Spencer in the clear and his blistering shot is well saved at the second attempt, by the Thornton Keeper.
To be honest I thought that we would go on and win this one but, once more we keep hold of the ball, this time in central midfield and lose it, fail to clear our lines and find ourselves 0-2 down and the look on our trio of Coaches faces, tells its own story!!
Liam gets his foot on the ball from the restart and cleverly picks out the advancing Dale, who rounds his man and delivers a pin point cross right on to Spencer’s head, his effort is well saved but, harry is following up and heads home 1-2 and we are back in with a shout!
Thornton then push on for the last five minutes before half time and if Jamie, Oli, Danny Mouatt and Mr Dolby had not all made telling tackles, we could have easily seen their advantage further extended.
Half time and Roger Scolari is feeling the pressure and tells his young charges “I know it’s your first game back, but you must keep doing the basics, or we will get hammered!”
We restart and Roger is not happy , he replaces the energetic Jordan Hizzett with nick Thompson and nick is straight into action, sliding in to win a ball and releases Liam who, picks out James who shoots just wide of the mark but, the signs are encouraging none the less?
Just when we thought that “they were there for the taking” as they visibly seem to tire, they produce a really good goal, again leaving Ben and our back four totally blameless 1-3.
We restart and Nick wins the ball, plays it to Harry who, cleverly picks out the on rushing Spencer, who Cooley “hammers home” 2-3, could we repeat what happened in this fixture, earlier in the season?
No is the plain and simple answer, we lose the ball in midfield and then inexplicably pass it across our own area 2-4 and it looks like the game has now finally gone!
Spencer is subbed for the returning Jack and he follows on from his impressive return to training, from the previous weeks and is unlucky to see his effort saved, after weaving his way through their tiring back line.
Roger rings the changes and Liam and Oli are subbed for Tom Simpson and Danny Scott respectively, as Roger shuffles his pack in one last attempt to salvage a point!
Nick, James, Danny Mouatt, Harry and Jamie, all keep pushing us forward right to the end, but I am afraid t was not enough.
Full time and Roger liked the second half effort more than the first and Tony “didn`t like any of it”, being ever the Liberal, I think I sit somewhere in between them both, with my opinion of the events that unfolded!
Man of the Match, was awarded to Harry and others that pushed him close were, James, nick and Oli.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Josh Mazurke, Danny Mouatt, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Harry Rowe (1), Danny Scott, Thomas Simpson, Josh Spencer (1), Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Jack Warburton, Liam Wilkinson.

U15s -Vs- Calverley Juniors U15s - Home

23 Nov 2008
Kick-off 13:30

Won: 3 - 2

Well where to start today’s report indeed? Rumours were rife as Roger Scolari took his young side to a secret mountain retreat somewhere in the Eccleshill hills, to try to right the wrongs of the game against Prospect on our last outing. One such rumour even indicated that Scolari himself would return to his native Wrose, if his side were to perform as poorly again. Supposedly his back room Staff were revolting and again I think most would probably agree? (Again no comment was the reply from the great man !).
The day itself could have not been more conducive to football, a crisp clear cry afternoon and after a awe inspiring speech pre match from Tony Hughes, we were left in no doubt that certain wrongs HAD to be rectified.
We kick off and Liam gets his foot on the ball and plays a clever through ball to the lively Spencer, who shoots just wide, an encouraging start none the less? Once more Liam gets his foot on the ball, after good work by probably the best centre back in the League Jamie “Suggy” Sugden and this time Liam plays in Dale who, rounds his marker and slots coolly home from a very tight angle 1-0 and to be honest well deserved!
I know its happened on numerous occasions this season but I am afraid to say it happens again, we fail to put the ball into row Z and find ourselves level 1-1.
Our guests seem to grow in confidence from this and start to knock the ball around and dare I say for the first time in the match, start to look the better team? Spencer though has other ideas and after good initial work by Olli (who received a glowing report from Tony Hughes) and a shrewd through ball from the hard working Harry the Aussie, Spencer breaks clear of their back line and is only brought to a halt when he is sent tumbling in the penalty area, so Spencer picks himself up and hammers the resulting spot kick into the roof of the net 2-1.
Restart and how did I miss that Hizzett and that man Liam combine to release the lively Dale and he wriggles free of his marker and provides a perfect through ball for Spencer and the rest as they say is history, as he break the net from 10 yards 3-1.
To be honest we should have put the game to bed at this time, but we were undone by a superb strike from the lively Calverley forward, who left our deputy Keeper Super Danny Mouatt with no chance 3-2 and they are back in the game, right on the stroke of half time!
Scolari tells his team at half times team talk that , it’s better than the last match but, there is still plenty of room for improvement!
With that thought ringing in our ears, we are back into battle.
The second half starts and we are involved in a midfield battle, the goal just before the break has visibly lifted our opponents and they seem to be growing in confidence, they seem to be concentrating their efforts down our left hand side and Rissce Mazurke and Mr Thomas Venger Dolby are forced to double up in an attempt to stem the flow!
Rissce is subbed as he visibly starts to tire after a hard shift and he is replaced by Danny BCFC Scott and it is Danny who makes a last ditch tackle and releases James LUFC Bennett and he is unlucky to see his well struck effort rattle the bar and bounce for a goal kick, when your lucks out eh!
Liam gets a knock and is replaced by Nick, who is one of the few who came away with any credit , from the massacre of Woodhall two weeks previous.
Nick is straight into the thick of it and to be honest, carried on from where he left off and will have done his chances of a starting slot no harm at all.
How did I miss that Hizzett is replaced after a workman like performance by Tom LUFC Simpson and Tom gets stuck in, as he always does and won’t ever take a backwards step and it is our new midfield duo of, Nick and Tom, who along with Suggy who, combine to thwart any chance of a Calverley equaliser, in the dying minutes of the game.
All in all a much more polished display this time and I though personally, one or two still need to put roll up their sleeves more then they are at present.
Man of the match award went deservedly to Jamie Sugden and other performances of note were Liam, Dale and Spencer and our thanks to the goal machine Duck, who was our unused Substitute.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick (1), Thomas Dolby, Robbie Duck, Jordan Hizzett, Josh Mazurke, Danny Mouatt [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Harry Rowe, Danny Scott, Thomas Simpson, Josh Spencer (2), Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Liam Wilkinson.

Prospect A u15s -Vs- U15s - Away

09 Nov 2008
Kick-off 13:00

Lost: 9 - 2

Today we are away to Prospect A u15s and what a horrible day it is for Football; it is freezing and absolutely bucketing it down, so you could say a typical West Yorkshire Sunday Morning?
As we prepare for the match, Tony and Bob take each and every player to one side and tell them what is required and more to the point, what Roger Scolari our genius of a head coach will expect and that to be honest was about as productive as our lads got ,for the whole duration of the match!
We did start brightly to be honest and settled well for once, but there were huge gaps down the middle of the field, where we seemed to be light in numbers?
So it was not long before our coaches were barking instructions, trying to plug the gaps that the team on the field seemed incapable of doing?
Our back four seemed to be lob sided, Jamie and Oli seemed to be picking up down the middle (which left a huge open space down our right flank, the great Mr Dolby was marking their right sided midfielder down our left side along with the now departed Jake Cronshaw (our loss is Eccleshills gain in my opinion) was picking up their right full back, I am not too sure where we were in the middle of midfield, it seemed as open as the Great plains of Africa, such was the open spaces and our front line seemed to be stood huddled together trying to keep themselves warm!
It was no surprise then that in no time at all we were to find our selves three down and Scolari had seen enough, off came Tom LUFC Simpson (after what was a quiet game by his normal industrious standards) and on came Liam (the quietist lad in the team) Wilkinson, but still the same inept display followed and if in my opinion had it not been for Jamie Sugden and the ever willing Harry, we would have found ourselves further adrift!
Half time and Scolari lets rip!
The lads are told in no uncertain terms how poorly they have performed and why bother turning up at all with this attitude? Or maybe the Great One has seen it coming? It seems that week in week out at training “the hunger has gone”, its all a bit of a chore a great team like this (or so you think) having to turn up and put a bit of hard work in, on a cold and windy autumn evening, but my young friends the answer is their for all to see this morning!!!
Oli OR Ramsay is replaced by Mr BCFC Scott and Josh Rissce Mazurke replaces Jake Cronshaw and we restart. Harry is still working his socks off and creates half a chance for James, who is muscled out of it and then we are caught twice again in quick succession 5-0 and then again 6-0 and we still have not strung a half decent move together, that’s how good we are (in my opinion), we can’t even put our foot on the ball never mind retain procession for more then one pass, I am sure that we played much better football then this three seasons ago, when you were eleven!!
The great Mr Dolby is replaced by Nick, who was to go on and put in an all action display in the middle and “boy how we needed it”?
How did I miss that Hizzett is replaced by the returning Tom LUFC Simpson, but it is too late and 7-0!
Harry gets a deserved well taken Goal to reward his hard graft and then we concede again 8-1 before Spencer, who worked much harder this half gets a well finished off goal and that as that 9-2 and how does that feel now Gents??
We can take nothing away from a decent Prospect side, who by all accounts played well today and indeed we did have four or five well saved strikes, by prospects impressive keeper Adam Swain, but that does not mask the fact that we looked appalling and I honestly take no pleasure in saying that, but you are all growing up now and part of that is being told the truth!
As mentioned earlier, well played to Harry, Young Suggy and Danny Mouatt, who did is best in between the sticks, despite not wanting to play there and it was decided to award Danny the Man of the Match award, for that sole reason!

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jake Cronshaw, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Josh Mazurke, Danny Mouatt [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Harry Rowe (1), Danny Scott, Thomas Simpson, Josh Spencer (1), Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Liam Wilkinson.

U15s -Vs- Queensbury Celtic U15s - Home

19 Oct 2008
Kick-off 14:00

Draw: 2 - 2

Today we have a chance to put right the wrongs of last weeks cup defeat away to Sandy Lane, we know we were well below par and will need to be up for a tough game today against top of the league Queensbury Celtic U15s.
It’s an ideal afternoon for Football and the grass is short and should encourage our short passing game.
We kick off with a very strong wind in our faces and struggle for the first 10 mins to find our feet, but when we finally do we start to look the better team and then, yes you guessed it we fail to clear our lines and are caught out with the returning ball being chipped over our advancing back line and Ben is comprehensively beaten 0-1, not the start that we deserved, but no one took ownership of the ball and the resulting goal was an obvious conclusion.
We restart and again are looking dangerous, Oli, Tom Simpson, Jordan Hizzett & Spencer causing their back line concern, after combining well on several occasions and it only through bad luck that we are not on level terms, but how many times have I said it this season, we fail to clear again and despite Jamie Sugden, single hand idly keeping them at bay, we concede again 0-2.
As the first half draws to a close, we seem to visibly tire and we are grateful to Ben again and the impressive Jake Cronshaw (today playing at Left Back), that we don’t concede once more and are happy to hear the half time whistle!
Oli who worked hard despite having “man flu” is replaced by Liam, which means that Dale will ply his trade on the Left hand side of midfield and Liam will play in the centre, along side Jordan “how did I miss that?” Hizzett and Roger’s message is clear, “we need to get our foot on the ball and the rest will come”.
No sooner said than done Roger, out come Rogers mints (to the select few of course) and as if by magic, Dale sets off on a run down the left, beats two defenders and slots home impressively from the narrowest of angles 1-2 and we are back in the game.
Our guests are now on the back foot and their crowd are visibly shaken and the Ref has to step in to calm things down (I thought the game was about the Kids and not the adults???).
Moving on and Captain James has come to life and we all know that when that happens he makes things happen and indeed three times he beats his man , but is unlucky to see his efforts either well saved or narrowly miss the mark, but the signs are encouraging none the less.
Tom Simpson and Jordan Hizzett are now bossing things in the middle despite the obvious quality of their players in that area and it is Tom who plays in Liam, who lobs the keeper, only to see the ball finish wide of the mark.
Jordan is replaced by Danny BCFC Scott and he is up to the task as he wins a tackle and feeds Dale, who makes half a yard and puts in a pin point cross to Spencer and his hard work is rewarded as he leaves their keeper stranded with a beauty 2-2!
Five minutes to go and our guests are on the attack , first Tom Dolby then Danny Mouatt make last ditch tackles keeping our dreams alive, we can’t seem to clear, Jaime Sugden, Ben and Jake Cronshaw, throw everything and anything in front of the ball, then Dale sets off on one of his length of the field runs and sees his shot curl just wide of the post and that as they say is that 2-2 and to be honest a fair result, despite the boo’s from the opposing supporters, that said, the Queensbury team on the pitch were a credit to their club, they are a quality side the best we have seen in a long time and more to the point, THEY PLAYED THE GAME IN THE RIGHT SPIRIT!!.
Well played to our lads, a much better performance than the previous week and if we keep playing like that as a minimum, we could well push the likes of Queensbury all the way.
Tom Simpson won the Man of the Match award after an all action display in the middle of the park and other players of note were, Ben, Spencer, Jake Cronshaw and Mr reliable Jamie Sugden, but as said earlier well played to all, including our unused subs Nick and Jamie Smith.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick (1), Jake Cronshaw, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Danny Mouatt, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Danny Scott, Thomas Simpson, Jamie Smith, Josh Spencer (1), Jamie Sugden, Nick Tompson, Liam Wilkinson.

Sandy Lane u15s -Vs- U15s - Away

12 Oct 2008
Kick-off 14:00

Lost: 4 - 3

Well where to start after today’s abysmal second half display, where indeed?
We were away to Sandy Lane u15s at Marley Stadium Keighley and things to be honest started poorly from our point our point of view, as we lost our inspirational Centre back Jamie Sugden, after he collided with “Lanes” Forward and had to be subbed for Tom Simpson, which meant Liam went to sweeper and Tom was to play along side the impressive Jordan Hizzett in the centre of midfield.
We went behind, as we seem to be doing every week this season, to a well taken strike from their impressive forward, but again there were holes down the middle and again, we failed to clear our lines, where have I heard that before?
Spencer was to bring us back into contention 3 times during the first half, after good approach play from James & Oli and we just had time to concede again before the half time whistle leaving us at a 2-3 advantage.
Tony and Bob are at a loss as to what to say during the break, but the message theme was in the end quite clear “do you want to play Football & if so , why as a rule have the majority of you turned up half heartedly” ?
We restart and Threaten briefly through Dale and James and indeed, we could have extended our lead but for good keeping and one or two half hearted efforts.
Oli is Subbed for Newcomer Nick Powel and he is straight into action , his direct pace earning us a free kick, which James steers just wide of the post.
We are now bossing the game , mainly due to Spencers energy up front, Mr Hizzett, the energetic Tom Simpson and a competent back five of Liam, Mr Dolby, Josh Rissce Mazurke , Danny Mouatt, who was to go on and earn the Man of the Match award, after a very accomplished second half and not forgetting Ben between the sticks, who went on to make several breath taking saves.
Dale is subbed for Danny Scott and he earns us a half chance, winning a well timed tackle and releasing Nick whose effort is snuffed out, by a well drilled “Lane” Defence.
Rissce is subbed for Jake Cronshaw, as a last throw of the dice as we go with three at the back and push Jake up along side Spencer and James up front but it was not to be our day and it’s that same old cliché, we fail to clear again and are made to pay 3-3!
It’s last chance saloon , as James heads directly to goal and is hauled back by a tiring Lane defender and James sees the resulting free kick loop just wide of the far post, again leaving their keeper stranded, I didn’t even have time to write down “it’s not going to be our day” before they broke clear of our back three and slotted home, leaving even a Keeper of Bens ability with no chance and that as they say was to be that!
Well played to our hosts and good luck in the next round.
To sum up I would say that we just need a few more to turn up like they do in training every week and we will be fine.
Man of the Match award to Danny Mouatt for a brilliant second half performance and other players of note were Spencer Jordan Hizzett and Ben.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jake Cronshaw, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Josh Mazurke, Danny Mouatt, Nick Powel, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Danny Scott, Thomas Simpson, Josh Spencer (3), Jamie Sugden, Liam Wilkinson.

Thornton Traveller u15s -Vs- U15s - Away

28 Sep 2008
Kick-off 13:30

Won: 5 - 6

Today we are away to Thornton Traveller and as we approach a very small pitch, it is obvious that they are a very very big side!
We kick off up hill with a very strong wind in our faces and they lob the ball over our defence, which was rightly pushing out and we are caught flat footed and their impressive striker slots coolly home 1-0 and not the start that we were looking for.
Kick off and believe it or not they repeat the same move and again we are caught out 2-0!
Dale nearly brings us back into the game, making a good solo run and shooting just wide, after good work by Oli.
Believe it or not, we are caught flat footed again and the same good finish 3-0, surely even a team as resilient as us can’t come back from this, could we?
We restart and Dale works well combining with James and Spencer makes them pay, with a well executed edge of the area finish 3-1
From the restart They try the same over the top trick, but this time Ben, our brilliant keeper foils them (or so we thought), He come running from his line and as their advancing striker bore down on our goal, Ben slid in to win the ball, their striker jumped over Ben and as Ben put his arm up to protect himself from an accidental flailing boot, the striker caught his arm and as he was already air born trying to avoid the onrushing Ben he was brought to ground ,the Ref saw this as a Red card offence and a Penalty, from which our replacement keeper Danny Mouatt has no chance 4-1, we now have to play the rest of the match with ten men!
We as you all know are made of sterner stuff this season and have overcome greater adversities than this, as if to prove a point, Jordan Hizzett who was to go on and play his best game so far this season and go on to win a deserved Man of the Match award, wins the ball in typical fashion and releases James who, outpaces their back line and bring a good save out of the Thornton Keeper, as if Mr Hizzett had not impressed enough, he wins the ball again plays it to his midfield partner Liam , who release Dale who rounds his man and some how his Cross is scrambled clear despite a good forward run from Jamie Sugden.
Half time and Roger Scolari tells his boys that the incident with Ben, has now gone and to be honest half of us thought it was not a penalty and half did, as to sending him off, my opinion for what it is worth is that it seemed harsh on a young lad, as it was certainly not done with malicious intent!
Back to the game and we start the second half on the front foot, James, Jordan Hizzett, Dale, Oli and Spencer combine several times in and around their area, but we are having no luck in front of goal, but we keep plugging away and James is able to skilfully guide home a clever through Ball from Jordan Mullaney and we are back in the game, as Thornton are visibly deflated 4-2.
Our defence are now more solid and more to the point working as a unit, Thomas Dolby is winning more and more first balls, Jamie Sugden and Jordan Mullaney, are using their pace to good effect and mopping up anything loose and Oli and Dale are back behind the ball on the flanks, as soon as there is a sniff of danger, yes you can see the difference!
Oli is subbed by Jack, after putting in a good shift and it is Jack himself, who races onto the end of another Dale cross and finishes well 4-3.
Liam is subbed for Thomas Simpson, after a good effort and Tom Simpson is straight onto the thick of it, winning a ball that he had no right to, passing to James who earns us a corner, which he rifles in and Thomas Dolby’s thunderous header is too much for the now over worked Thornton keeper, great header 4-4.
Though history tells us that Thornton are an established side in this division and teams as good as theses don’t lie down, they are back on the attack and Jordan Mullaney does well to break up one raid, but still they come forward, Danny Mouatt keeps us in the game, with a brilliant reflex save, but despite heroic efforts by “Suggy”, Dolby and Mr Mullaney, we do eventually fall behind, again another clinical finish by their impressive Striker 5-4.
Well surely there was no more drama to unfold today? How wrong could we be? Jamie Sugden wins the ball gives it to Tom Simpson who, chips the ball over their back line for James to rush onto and smash the ball home 5-5.
We restart and are straight into two minutes of injury time when, Man of the Match, Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett wins the ball and plays an inch perfect through ball to Josh Spence, he out paces their tiring back line and unleashes “the hammer” 6-5 and that was to be the last kick of the match, what can we say in our post match talk, well the answer is nothing !
A great spectacle for football despite the incident which earlier reduced us to 10 men, which as stated earlier, is “just Football”.
Well played to Man of the Match Jordan Hizzett, a brilliant game and also spare a thought for our unused subs Scotty, Jake and Rissce, a good squad effort!

SQUAD: James Bennett (2) [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jake Cronshaw, Thomas Dolby (1), Jordan Hizzett, Josh Mazurke, Danny Mouatt, Jordan Mullaney, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Danny Scott, Thomas Simpson, Josh Spencer (2), Jamie Sugden, Jack Warburton (1), Liam Wilkinson.

Eldwick Juniors u15s -Vs- U15s - Away

21 Sep 2008
Kick-off 14:00

Won: 3 - 5

Today we are at Home for the afternoon kick off against Eldwick, who as ever will be bossed around the park, by long time Idle target Sam (Dolby’s cousin). It’s a lovely sunny afternoon perfect for football.
We kick off and just for a change come off second in most of the early encounters.
Roger Scolari has today rang the changes and with Danny Mouatt deputising between the sticks for missing birthday boy Ben, he has brought in Dale at left back, Olli at right back and in right midfield he has brought in Danny “BCFC” Scott, indeed it is these three unlikely heroes, along with Mr reliable Jamie Sugden, start to string a pass or two together.
I know this is only our 3rd match this season, but how many times have I said it?, yes you guessed it 0-1, we are caught napping in the centre and leave Jamie & Danny Mouatt exposed and you have to say given our slow start, deserve to go a goal down!
We restart and Spencer earns us a corner after great work down their right hand side. James takes the resulting corner and “Lord knows how” the ball does not cross the line, after two point blank saves from Jack & Spencer.
It’s that man Spencer again who runs past their over worked left back and earns us a free kick (looked like a penalty to me Ref!), James takes and with the keeper left stranded shoots just wide, good effort.
Dale seems to be struggling and is replaced by Josh Rissce Mazurke and Josh is straight in the thick of it, putting in a last ditch challenge to prevent what looked like an easy tap in, but once again we fail to clear and are made to pay 0-2, we never picked up our men, but what’s the point in shouting and balling and blaming each other, the problem needs to be addressed, but in a constructive manner!
Believe it or not, they come straight down the field and register again 0-3 (no comment)
Half time and Roger Scolari is not happy, he leaves all 15 players in no doubt what he requires and won’t stand for any thing less!
We start the second half with Rogers wise words still ringing in our ears and this is a lot better, James is alive, Liam and Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett are at last putting their foot on the ball and Mr Dolby has sprung into action and its Mr Dolby who dispossess their Sam and release James who does well to earn us a corner. James arrows the ball in and Scotty heads the ball home 1-3, Roger likes what he sees and “dishes out” the “Worthers” to those in his favour?
Scotty is replaced by Jordan Mullaney, which means we have to reshuffle so Olli goes to right midfield to allow Jordan to go to the right back birth.
Spencer is alert to a lovely through ball from Jamie Sugden and unselfishly plays in Jack and his effort is just inches wide!
Roger ring the changes and tired looking Olli is replaced by the fit again Dale and Jake Cronshaw replaces Jack “Warby” Warburton after another good shift, what a difference this season in the depth of the squad, when you can alternate players of this quality.
The two subs get us straight back in with a shout, after Dale goes on a breath taking run and crosses for Jake Cronshaw to slot coolly Home 2-3.
We get the ball straight back, after good work from Jordan Hizzett and he plays in Liam, who one Two’s with Spencer and Liam Hammers Home from the edge of the box 3-3 and we are now bossing the match as our opponents run out of steam.
Jamie Sugden dispossess Sam with a good challenge and plays the ball to Rissce, he plays a short ball to Dale who, sets off on a length of the pitch run (beating 4 defenders on the way) and hammers home a beauty from a very tight angle 4-3!
We again win the ball back through Jordan Mullaney and he releases James Bennett, who as I said earlier has looked hungry for the ball this half and James shows us just what he is all about by, out pacing their tired back line and finishing well as we all know that he can 5-3 and that as they say is that!
Tony, Roger and Bob are left speechless for once and just ask their young charges, to go home and think about what went wrong the first Half and more to the point what went right in the second?
Man of the match deservedly went to the impressive Dale and who knows what he will achieve, if this Dale keeps turning up every week, well player Mate.

U15s -Vs- Sandy Lane Juniors u15s - Home

14 Sep 2008
Kick-off 14:00

Won: 4 - 2

Today we are at home to Sandy Lane and we know from previous encounters that they will never give a yard and will fight for every ball, now there’s a thought?
Kick off is delayed, due to a larger than expected crowd, being slow to get through the turnstiles.
Roger Scolari names the same starting 11, with the exception of Jake Cronshaw taking the place of the injured Jack Warburton and that leaves a space for Josh Rissce Mazurke on the bench along with Scotty, Olli and Dale, there must be £50,000,000 sat on the bench, with that array of talent?
We start and are straight on the back foot, our guests are certainly “quick out of the blocks” and we are grateful to Ben, Mr Dolby and Jamie Sugden, for keeping us in with a shout early on! Even those three cannot stop the inevitable and once again, we fail to clear our lines and are made to pay with a well taken strike, leaving Ben with no chance 0-1!
We kick off and straight away our right back Jordan Mullaney, pulls up and is subbed by Olli, who was to go on and have a good game (after some good well constructed advice on positioning from the impressive Jamie Sugden), another selection headache for Rodger next week then, with potentially two right backs to choose !
Spencer and Jake are playing well up front and it is Spencer who cleverly leaves his marker for dead and sets up James, who sees his crisply hit effort sale just over the bar!
Harry and Olli are forming a good understanding down our right hand side and it is Harry who out paces his man and fashions a chance for Jake Cronshaw, whose effort shaves the wrong side of the post, with the Lanes keeper well beaten and that last action signals the end of the first half.
Roger Scolari gets his troops together and leaves them in no doubt of what is required and once again reminds them that, more than ever with the talent sat on the bench, it is a squad game this season, so there will be changes!
We restart and Liam and “how did I miss that ?Hizzett combine well for the first time today and split their defence wide open, as James gallops on to a clever through ball from Liam and shoots narrowly wide, that’s better good effort !
Liam busts through again, after help from Mr Hizzett and earns us a corner, which as we know James “can wip em in!” and does so bring us level at 1-1 and to be honest, I thought that we should have credited James with the Goal, but the official verdict seemed to be “Own Goal” ?
Restart and we are straight on the attack and its James again, who has now come to life and unselfishly crosses for Harry to “hammer home” 2-1 and no more than we deserve!
As in the previous game, we are being out numbered down our left flank and Danny Mouatt is left powerless as they simply pass the ball round him and leave Ben stranded 2-2, we didn’t deserve that, but what were we saying last match about concentrating for the full 90 minutes?
Jake Cronshaw is subbed for the returning Dale and he is straight into action, skipping round defenders at will, before setting up James whose header is well saved, good team move again!
We continue to press and Spencer gives us back the lead, with a well finished effort, after good working from Harry and Dale 3-2.
We just have time for a double substitution, Danny Mouatt being replaced by Josh Rissce Mazurke and “How did I miss that” Hizzett being replaced by the versatile Danny “BCFC” Scott, before Dale, Scotty and James do well and release the ever willing Josh Spencer, who rounds the keeper and finishes in classic Spencer fashion 4-2 and that as they say is that.
Summing up I would say that we need to believe in our own ability a bit more and “roll up our sleeves” and put in the hard yards, “you only get what you work for”.
Man of the Match award again goes to a deserving Jamie Sugden (who is adding great organisational skills, to his already impressive CV).

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jake Cronshaw, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Hizzett, Josh Mazurke, Danny Mouatt, Jordan Mullaney, Ben Radcliffe [GK], Oliver Ramsay, Harry Rowe (1), Danny Scott, Josh Spencer (2), Jamie Sugden, Liam Wilkinson.

U15s -Vs- Eccleshill u15s - Home

91 200
Kick-off 18:00

Draw: 2 - 2

Well it’s finally here at last, the start of the Season. After several long weeks of hard slog, our boys I feel are as ready as they are going to be? They have all come through Pre season well and are now “Ready for Action”.
Roger Scolari Bennett and Tony Hughes Sugden have added Bob Osgood Ramsay to their back room Staff and on the pitch have smashed their own Transfer record, by way of signing forward Jack “Warby” Warburton, from high flying Nabwood and a very classy versatility player from division A side Undercliffe, by the name of Danny Mouatt.
Today’s opponents are Eccleshill A and we all know what a good footballing side they are and indeed several times, we have been on the wrong end of a drubbing, over the last few seasons!
Today’s side has been very hard to select and Roger emphasises that very point, as he explains to some of our 20 odd players that they as yet, will not be able to force their way into his plans , but hopes that they will still be part of squad.
We kick off and are straight on the attack, as Jordan Mullaney nips in to steal the ball and releases Spencer, who beats two defenders and sets up Liam, who’s shot is just wide, an encouraging start , none the less!
Jack and Spencer up front look the part and to illustrate the fact, combine well and earn us a corner, from which James picks out Liam, whose bullet header is well saved by Eccleshills impressive Keeper.
We deservedly take the lead after several fruitless attacks and it’s the new man Warby, who fashions a chance for Liam and he hammers Home 1-0.
Our lead is short lived as our guests mount a rare attack, but to be honest it was a well worked move , though we should have “cleared the ball first and asked questions later” 1-1.
Spencer is working hard and is set clear after good work in the centre of midfield from Jordan Hizzett and Spencer is upended in the box and is not best pleased with himself, after he places his spot kick, straight in their keeper’s hands!
Eccleshill go straight down the field and again we fail to clear and are made to pay, by Eccleshills impressive Skipper 1-2, when will we ever learn, you have to concentrate for the full match and nothing less will do!
We are being caught out frequently down our left flank , where Danny Mouatt (at Left back) is being regularly outnumbered and despite Jamie Sugden sweeping round impressively,we need to sort it and quickly!
Harry Rowe is back in his usual Right Midfield birth, after forcing his way into Rogers plans, despite the unlucky Oli playing all the preseason games in that position, but Harry shows us why, as he leaves two defenders trailing and combines well with James, only for the Eccleshill Keeper once again to “save the Day”.
Half time and Roger Scolari is not best pleased! We went to sleep again and he tells his starting 11, that this Season that due to the size of our squad, we “have quality” on the bench and he will not be afraid to use it!
Danny Scott replaces Jordan Mullaney and we restart.
Liam is straight on the attack and unselfishly sets up Jack, whose effort scrapes the post, good start though, this is the first of several efforts, Liam, James, Harry & Spencer all troubling their keeper, but still he stands firm!
After such a promising start to his Idle career disaster strikes, Jack “Pulls up” and has to be replaced by the hard working Jake Cronshaw.
At the back we are grateful several times to Ben in goals and Jamie Sugden (who was to go on and earn a deserved Man of the Match Award) and by way of reward for their hard work, Ben rolls the ball out to Jamie, who lobs the ball cleverly over the top, for the ever willing Spencer to chase down and earn us a corner, from which. James hammers the ball across, only for Thomas Dolby’s header to be punched clear, but there lurking is Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett and as we know he can finish! An absolute screamer into the top corner, got to be a contender for Goal of the season? 2-2 great finish Jordan.
Harry is replaced by Oli and he sets Spencer clear, but again he cannot find a way past their Keeper!
That as they say is that and despite our best efforts, we didn’t have enough up stairs, when it mattered!
Thanks to Dale and Tom Simpson the two unused Subs, who know that it’s a Squad game this season and will continue to be so!
As mentioned earlier, well played to Jamie Sugden, for a deserved Man of the Match award.
All in all not a bad start, but plenty of room for improvement!
