Well, it’s here again, the last league match of the season and what a turbulent season it has been, José’s very position seems to have been threatened, by owner and chairman and the man who has been bank rolling his team, Greengates millionaire Bob Coulter, it is rumoured that “the special one” and big Tony are wanted by a much bigger club, but not if we the parents can have a whip round and put a quid in each, to equal the current transfer budget! Watch this space?? On with the match and what a feast of football it was, from first to final whistle it was an epic match and both teams can go home with their heads held high, but it was by no means plain sailing. Kick off and we lost the toss and are kicking into a very strong wind and are struggling to get the ball out of our own half for considerable periods, we are very grateful for the hard tackling of Jamie “Suggy” Sugden and Thomas “if it moves kick it” Dolby and the pace of Jordan Mullaney and the positioning of Josh “Risse” Mazurke and the bravery of Ben “the cat” Radcliffe , or we could have easily found ourselves a couple of goals behind as today’s visitors fizzed the ball around with considerable aplomb!. Dale and Harry are working their socks off as usual , but we still can’t seem to keep the ball upfront and the early pressure is relentless, again we try to clear our lines, but Oli is isolated and the ball comes back again, Jordan “how did I miss that “ Hizzett and Tom Simpson ,helped out by Captain James are slowly but surely starting to win one or two more second balls and one such tackle by Josh sees us release the ever lively Dale and he brings our first threat on goal just before half time and what a brilliant solo run it was! At half time Jose` tells our boys that the last ten minutes was much better and at last Oli , Harry, Dale and James had something to work with in that particular period and that was what he needed from now on in!! The second half gets under way and this time we have the strong wind at our backs and suddenly our opponents don’t look quite so composed, especially as Harry makes one of his typical lung bursting runs and shoots just over, it was also encouraging to see James , Oli and Dale making positive efforts to support him!!.No sooner said than done and Josh”Risse” crunches into a tackle, feeds Tom Simpson who unleashes Dale, he beats a man and lays the ball square to Oli, who steals half a yard and clips the ball over the top for Captain James to take in his stride and calmly out paces their defence and slots past the advancing keeper, as he has been doing all season and at last 1-0 and I have to say at this particular stage of the game , no more than we deserve. As I mentioned earlier, this is an absolute classic of a game and it is by no means won , as our visitors pile every man and his dog forward in a bid to level the game and once again our brilliant back four and Ben “the cat” have to be at the top of their game, but we still have time to unleash Dale, after a crunching challenge from Mr Hizzett, who feeds the ball to his midfield partner Tom Simpson, who lays it back for Mr Dolby and he chips the ball over for Dale to once again beat three men and bring another good save from the Tigers stopper. Jose` brings on Jake “hot shot” Kumar for the ever hard working Oli and straight away Jake carries on from where his predecessor left off and hassles their defence in to a mistake (from little acorns big Oak trees grow) i was once told and this is the case again, as this time Harry and Jordan Mullaneys hard work earns us a corner from nothing and that is that. A special mention to today’s other subs, who did not get a run out, Danny Scott, Jamie Smith, Robbie “the goal machine” Duck and Alex Green, a word to the wise, you may not have got on today, but believe you me football is very much a squad game and you have all more than played your parts through out this campaign and we could not have got our European cup birth with out your efforts! Man of the Match today goes to Dale, for another barn storming show and well done to you mate! We have come a long way this season and I hope you have all enjoyed it as much as we parents have from watching you progress on the side line, you see football is a team game and at last I think that you are all coming to terms with that, it doesn’t matter who puts the ball in the net as long as that is the end result and you can walk off that pitch at the end of the training session of indeed game and say “I did my best” Thank you to Jose` and Tony for giving up your time for our lads! And that as they say is that, thank you and good night!!

Today sees the return fixture for our young chaps, who are taking on Myrtle Park u13s at home and it could not have been worse weather, its absolutely bucketing it down and seems like its minus 40oc. On with the action and our opponents look nothing like the team we played only 7 days ago, they are a much larger bunch, but still knock the ball around comfortably, but its not long before Captain James and Oli combine with Harry, who’s shot whistles just over the Bar, a promising start there then! In goals for the first part of today’s Game is Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett and he is thankful to Jamie Sugden, for helping him repel an early Myrtle Park raid! Tom Simpson and Danny Scott are our central midfield duo today and are supported on both flanks by Dale and Harry, who are always a handful for any opposing full back, up front sees Oli playing the lone strikers role and he is helped out by Captain James, who as usual will play just in the hole between our midfield and their defence. At the back we have the best back four in the business, in the shape of Jamie Sugden, Thomas Dolby, Jordan Mullaney and Josh Mazurke and last but not least in goals for the first half today, the afore mentioned Mr Hizzett and not wanting to alert any premiership scouts or anything but, just look at today’s Subs bench, headed by the impressive Jamie Smith, Mr Dependable Alex Green, Robbie “the goal machine” Duck, Jake “hot shot Kumar” and last but by no means least Ben “the Cat” Radcliffe, a line up to match any squad in the country indeed! As mentioned earlier, this certainly was not the day to be playing soccer, but our young side as ever warmed our hearts, they never shirked a challenge and stood up to task admirably and could and should have won by more than the 5-1 eventual score line. Our scorers for the day were Jordan Mullaney, Dale Chadwick, Oli Ramsay and Captain James Bennett chipped in with a couple (a quiet day at the office for him then!) and as ever our back line and midfield was as exemplary as ever, a credit to all connected with the club! Man of the Match today was awarded To Jamie Sugden and well deserved it was too, but again I must stress, that the job of picking a man of the match is a very hard one, as you are all now playing “out of your skin” Well done boys!!!

We arrive today for our match against Myrtle Park u13s on a cold and windy morning and as our lads warm up there is controversy in the air, Jose` has learnt that his team selection has been leaked to the press and has promised that the guilty party will no longer be welcome at the club! (Not wanting to mention Eddie “I’m the only gooner in the village”). Anyway today sees Jose` and big Tone ring the changes and they decide to give one or two of our “young guns” a chance to see what they can do? Kick off and the impressive Danny Scott is on the attack down our right flank, he exchanges passes with Robbie “ the goal machine” and crosses well for Alex, who shoots just wide, good start though! Jamie Sugden is as usual at the heart of our defence and this week he is accompanied by the versatile Jake Kumar and indeed the move that brings our first goal comes from those two, Suggy races forward in typical fashion and passes the ball to Jamie Smith, who out paces our hosts defence and shoots, only to see his effort rebound out to Robbie who rifles in a low ball across the box, which Captain James slams home with authority1-0 and no more than we deserve. Restart and we are on the defensive for the first time in the game and Dale (who is today at left back) and Ben combine to shut out any remote sniff of danger. Ben kicks out and Robbie earns us a corner, captain James coolly crosses the ball in and Jamie Smith hammers the ball home 2-0, a great goal (and the £20 a goal that Russ has promised per goal him seems well worth it now!). From the restart Alex and Oli hassle their defence into a mistake and the ball is passed to James, who picks out Oli at the edge of their box and Oli obliges with a clinical left foot finish 3-0, another well worked team move! Kick off and Harry, Oli and James string together another breath taking move, after being set up by Suggy and the resulting shot is just wide of the mark from James, but it is not long before James registers again, after Alex has held the ball up well for him to time his run to perfection 4-0. Half time and Jose` and Tony tell our boys that our hosts belie their lowly league status and do indeed play very good football and are a credit to their club, so we need to keep working hard and this is the sort of game in which we should be enjoying ourselves The 2nd half is underway and Oli plays the ball over the top for the ever willing Dale to run on to and cross for Alex to calmly slot home 5-0, good finish young man! Restart and the ever-willing Harry registers, James crossed the ball with pinpoint accuracy and young Harry heads the ball home, as simple as that 6-0! Jose` decides to ring the changes and on comes Tom Dolby, Jordan Mullaney, Josh & Tom Simpson for Suggy, Scotty, Jake and Harry (who have all done their bit) and straight away his managerial brilliance nearly pays dividends, Dale picks up the ball deep in our half and sets off on one of those mazy runs of his and crosses for Jordan Mullaney, who who neatly tucks the ball back to Alex who brings out a good save from their keeper again, nearly young man! Oli is subbed for the returning Jake, who is back up front and within seconds has the ball in the back of the net, only for it to be harshly ruled out for off side (a home town decision if I ever saw one). Alex who has had a fantastic game, leading the line, is subbed for Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett and he has an immediate impact, he wins the ball well in the middle of the park and feeds his midfield partner Tom Simpson, who finishes as coolly as you like 7-0 and another well prepared training ground routine and that is that! Man of the Match is rightly awarded to Dale Chadwick, who had an absolute stormer, well played mate and indeed well played to you all, a bit less complaing, moaning and groaning and a bit more hard sweat and you will be there, well done lads! An absolute pleasure gents!

Bradford Park Avenue u13s -Vs- U13s - Away

We arrive for our game with the mighty Park Avenue today, full of enthusiasm and we can’t wait to see if we are as good as we think we are? Well I am afraid to say that we did not get the chance to do so, our opponents proved to be far too good for us on the day! We never did ourselves justice; we never got into, never mind out of first gear and can be thankful to Man of the Match Ben (the best keeper I have ever seen for this early age) that we were not on the end of a thrashing. It was not all doom and gloom though, a few of our lads did put in “the hard yards” and your team mates are grateful to you for that! I am also afraid to say that one or two of our young lads were totally overawed by the pace and composure with which our illustrious opponents ruthlessly went about their work, hard words indeed you may think? but now is the age our young charges need to take onboard all the advice that is given to them (by us old timers) you see we have been there and done that (despite what you think) and we are willing to pass on our experiences to you , to enable you to enjoy you game ever the more! So this day has now gone and lets look to the future and who knows the next time we meet a team of the caliber of Park Avenue, dare I say we will roll up our sleeves, take a deep breath and charge into battle and do ourselves justice, because we are a dammed good team, both on and off the park!

U13s -Vs- Shipley Panthers - Home
04 Feb 2007 Kick-off 13:30
Won: 5 - nil
|
|
We today welcome Shipley Panthers to our home ground at Apperley Bridge and we are keen to put straight our poor performance at their ground earlier in the season. We were by our own high standards very ordinary that day. Kick off and we are straight on the attack, Oli breaks clear of their back line looks up, spots James busting a gut to time his run to perfection as ever, receives an inch perfect ball and as usual tucks the ball away neatly 1-0 and just the start we wanted! Kick off and Harry wins the ball back in the centre circle and sets off straight for goal, he draws in the last defender and slips the ball coolly to Oli whose shot is parried into the path of the onrushing Dale, who calmly side foots into the empty net, another pleasing to the eye team goal! Our opponents are struggling to get out of first gear and with Scotty, Tom Simpson, Harry and Dale running at their back 4 at will and this is the case, as again we register once more, Josh carries the ball to half way and releases our flying left winger Dale, he rounds his marker, draws in their centre back and picks out Danny Scott, who hammers the ball home, another good team move! 3-0. The next ten minutes sees us passing and probing and unfortunately Scotty picks up a knock (but is later okay , after amputation) and has to be substituted and what a substitute, none other than Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett making his return after a long injury lay off. We are pushing up well as a unit and Thomas Dolby, Jamie Sugden, Josh and Jordan Mullaney are also encamped in our opponents half and have to be constantly reminded to hold a defensive line! Half time and “the special one” Jose` Bennet tells his young charges not to get too complacent and just carry on doing what we are good at and the goals will come! The second half starts just where we left off and Jordan Hizzett and Thomas Simpson our midfield duo are “running the show” they are playing up alongside Oli and James for most of the time, such is our domination and it is not long before we score again. Jordan Mullaney races down the right and unselfishly tucks the ball back to our lightening quick right winger Harry, who outpaces their left back, draws the keeper and very unselfishly plays in Dale , who as ever finishes well 4-0. Jose` has seen enough and brings off the unfortunate Oli, Tom Simpson and the ever impressive Jamie Sugden (good game boys, all three of you have played your part) for, the fit again Jake Kumar, young Jamie Smith and Robbie “the goal machine” Duck and it has an immediate effect, Harry bursts clear and passes to Jake, who hammers home, a great goal on his return 5-0. Captain James is subbed for Alex and the game restarts and for the first time in the game I can mention our classy keeper Ben, who obliges with a great save at the feet of the Shipley left winger. Robbie, Jamie Smith, Alex and Jake all acquit themselves well and enjoyed a longer than normal run out and indeed, have made selection even harder next week for Jose` and big Tone? We end the game as we started it, with only Mr Dolby and Ben guarding our goal, but to our opponent’s credit, they never stopped trying and at the end of the day that’s what junior football is all about, well done to both teams for a great afternoon’s entertainment, well worth the admission fee! Man of the match went to Dale today and well deserved it was too!

U13s -Vs- Sutton Juniors - Home
28 Jan 2007 Kick-off 13:30
Lost: 3 - 4

|
We arrive today on a very cold and windy afternoon and as we warm up, it is clear that Sutton as well as being top of the League, are an extremely big side for under 13s one of their smallest players is as tall as our biggest player, so it looks like we are going to be in for a physical encounter today! We kick off and Thomas Simpson is straight into a crunching but fair 50-50 tackle with their big midfielder and I am afraid to say he had a swing at young Tom as he ran back to sure up our defence out of the refs view (not nice to see), anyway back to the game and what a game, as stated earlier Sutton are not top of the league just because of their physical stature, they are a very good footballing unit, they pass the ball around comfortably and possess several classy ball players and a clinical striker in the shape of their no 9!, but we are up to the task and are ourselves a damn good side and all we are missing is a bit of self belief and confidence when we are doing the easy things! We more than hold our own in the first half and despite creating several chances ourselves, after good play from young Mr Simpson, James, Dale, Oli, Harry and Scotty, we find ourselves trailing 0-2 to two clinically taken strikes from Suttons impressive front line, but as stated earlier we are a good side ourselves and Just before halftime we reply, Dale makes another great solo run he beats two defenders, after a great through ball from Josh and crosses for our hard working captain James to volley home in typical fashion 1-2. Restart and the ever impressive Jordan Mullaney goes on another forage down his flank and plays the ball through to Harry, who outpaces our visitors back line and hammers home, great finish and no more then we deserve 2-2! Half time sees Jose` and big Tony rally our troops and tell them this is an awesome display , we are more then holding our own against the best our league has to offer, so lets go on from here and get a well deserved win? Kick off and Dolby wins the ball well and chips the ball to Oli who turns his defender and plays the ball over their back line for James to coolly finish past their impressive keeper, a well worked goal with an awesome finish 3-2. Kick off and Sutton play keep ball for a while and Jamie Sugden, Dolby, Jordan Mullaney, Ben and the impressive Josh are working overtime, repelling attack after attack, but with opponents as good as these they are always going to work an opening and they do! Another classy finishes by their big no 9! That makes it 3-3. Kick off and they are back on the ball, we are starting to look at little off the pace, after another 3 week gap between games due to postponements due to bad weather and they make us pay before Jose` Bennet can get our Subs warmed up and on the park, we are 3-4 down, another great finish from yes you guessed it, their no 9. We at Idle appreciate a good young player and we all fairly applaud a cracking young talent! Jose` rings the changes and On comes young Smithy for the ever impressive Dale, Alex comes on for the hard working Oli and Robbie “the goal machine” Duck is on for Mr reliable Thomas Simpson (great efforts from all three of you) , but despite lung bursting efforts from all three subs, we can not claw it back and indeed we could have fallen further behind, if it was not for a brilliant save at the feet of a Sutton forward from our top class keeper Ben, after hard work From Josh and Smithy down our flank the whistle blows and that is that! Sutton will know they have been in a game today and that is a credit to Jose` , Tony and all of our playing staff, not forgetting Jordan Hizzett who has been laid low with a virus, for a long while and the returning to fitness Jake Kumar, well done to you all! Man of the Match today was awarded to Thomas Simpson, well played mate and well played to you all, you will play a lot worse than this and get a result, keep it up Lads!

Shipley Tigers -Vs- U13s - Away
07 Jan 2007 Kick-off 10:00
Won: nil - 4

|
We start our first game of the New Year away to Shipley Tigers and as we know from the last visit here to Belmont School it’s a cold spot is this, so we have to be thorough with our pre match warm up and it’s plain to see, we are up for this one! Kick off and the Tigers are straight on the attack and Jordan Mullaney, Ben, Dolby, Josh and Jamie Sugden have to be on their toes. Ben kicks out Harry feeds to Oli, who slips the ball through for James, who is brought down by their centre back and penalty!! James takes the responsibility for the spot kick, James hits the ball sweetly, but it sticks in the Deep mud and the moment is gone, just one of those things, but it is still hard to swallow! Thomas Simpson and Danny Scott are today’s pairing in midfield and as ever never give their opponents a minutes piece, a real engine room in the middle of the park. Scotty wins the ball passes to Dale who beats his marker, passes to Oli who releases James, shoots and brings a great save from their keeper, and we’re getting closer! Harry, James, Oli, Dale, Tom Simpson and Josh all see very good efforts that are either well saved or just wide leading up to half time, enough said! Half time and the talk from Jose` and big Tony is all about keeping doing what we are doing and surely we will register a goal or two? Kick off and Jamie, Dolby, Josh, Jordan Mullaney and Ben have to be on top form to withstand ten minutes constant pressure and then, Josh plays the Ball to Oli who feeds James who outpaces his marker and plays in Dale, who finishes clinically 1-0 and no more than we deserve! Kick off and Josh collects the ball from Ben plays in Dale with an inch perfect pass and crosses for Oli, who neatly taps home 2-0. After the restart Shipley put us under the cosh , for about ten minutes solid, but we hold firm and then out of the blue, Jamie Sugden has the ball at the half way line and rifles the ball into their top corner , an absolute unstoppable strike and a contender for goal of the season “a real peach” 3-0. Jose` rings the changes and Jamie Smith is on for the ever reliable Thomas Simpson and Alex is on for the ever improving Oli and straight away both are involved with Captain James , who passes for Dale who slams home 4-0 and no more than we deserve. Restart and Harry (who never stops working for the cause) is fed by Jordan Mullaney , beats his marker but once again his effort is well saved by the impressive Shipley Tigers keeper. Sub and the ever reliable Scotty is replaced by Robbie” the goal machine” Duck and The goal machine interchanges with Harry and gives the ball to Alex and his shot is just wide, good effort fellas! The last five minutes sees our impressive hosts pushing on in search of a consolation Goal, but not with a back five like ours! Full time and Jose` tells our young side, “that was one of the best team displays you have ever given”,Here Here!! Man of the match award was awarded to Jamie Sugden, for another barnstorming display, well played to you all, that’s what it all about lads! Next stop champions League??

We get underway in our last match before the Xmas break and to be fair, it seems to me that one or two of our young side are thinking about what farther Xmas is going to bring them rather than the task in hand, but this is not the case with Captain James, who collects a ball from Jordan Mullaney skips around his marker, gets to the edge of the box and unselfishly feeds Harry, who accepts his early present and calmly slots home 1-0. Our usual back 5 of Jamie Sugden, Jordan Mullaney, Josh, Dolby and Ben in goals are on their game and consistently snuff out any threat from our illustrious opponents and indeed from Bens kick out, Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett exchanges passes with Tom Simpson and James is in the clear and as usual finishes with ease 2-0 and no more than we deserve. Dale is playing out of his skin and you can tell that he is in the mood today and combined with Josh down our left are a constant threat to our hosts and Dale releases Oli who looks as though he would rather be in the George and Dragon having a pot or two and his resulting shot echoes this (well worked move though). Half time and our dynamic duo of Jose` and big Tony ring the changes, on come Robbie “the goal machine” Duck, Alex and Jamie Smith for Oli, Harry and Tom Simpson (good efforts by all three of you in the 1st half) and the changes have the desired effect Suggie charges down the field in typical fashion and earns us a free kick, Tom Simpson lays the rebound to Dale and that is 3-0, good team work gents! As stated earlier our back 5 have to be on their toes, as our hosts keep threatening to open their account, but from one of these raids, a hard working Jamie Smith wins the ball feeds Alex whose shot is parried away, only for Dale to clinically finish 4-0. Kick off and you can’t keep a good man down Jamie Smith feeds the hard working James who gets to the edge of the box and Dales there again 5-0 and a tenner for the hatrick from Grandad Alwyn and well deserved mate. Kick off and “how did I miss that “wins the ball and lays a lovely ball behind the full back and James smashes home 6-0 and a great finish. Jose` subs hatrick hero Dale for a now sobered up Oli and the ever impressive Josh is off for Tom Simpson and those two combine well with the goal machine and Oli brings out a good save from our guests over worked keeper, but it’s not long before James gets his Hatrick and it’s down to Jamie Smith, who has had an impressive game from the bench who creates it for him and James finishes in customary fashion 7-0 and another good team goal. To our visitors credit they did manage to score and they really never let their heads drop, despite being a man down the entire first half (Jose` took an extra man off for Idle at half time to even things up, ever the gent). Man of the match is awarded to the impressive Dale and well deserved too, but what’s this we hear Eddie (I’m the only gooner in the village) has to give James a fiver for his hatrick, while he mutters about taking advantage of a drunken mans mumblings at the previous nights Xmas bash, ahh well and it’s off to the pub, to start our Xmas celebrations cheers!

Well we arrive today, for the eagerly awaited return fixture against Eldwick at their home ground at Eldwick primary school, on a cold, wet, windy and damp morning, but rest assured we are ready for this one! We were the better team when we met earlier in the season and now we want to set the record straight. We are off and we are straight on the attack, Josh pings an inch perfect ball to Dale , who beats his marker but shoots just wide, none the less an encouraging start! We push on and Jordan Hizzett brings out a good stop from their keeper, but the signs are encouraging after we “were robbed” last week. It happens sooner rather than later and Jordan Hizzett is involved again, he wins the ball in the middle, after help from the ever impressive Thomas Simpson, Jordan lays the ball through to Captain James who holds the ball up well, returns it to Mr “how did I miss that” Hizzett and he puts in Oli at the edge of the box and he coolly hammers it into the top corner, great build up and finish and no more than we deserve 1-0. Kick off and Jordan Mullaney combines with Harry, who breaks free of their defence, but he shoots just over, but those two on our right are getting better and better and are a real threat week in week out! It’s not long before we stretch our lead and it starts with a hard tackle from the impressive Josh, who plays in Dale down the left, Dale rounds his marker and crosses perfectly for Oli who glances a header past the again stranded keeper, another great team effort 2-0. Restart and Harry is threatening to run riot down our right and is proving to be a real handful for their over worked left back , but again it is not to be his day today as their keeper saves from him again, but Harry is the sort of player who never lets his head drop and is always a great out ball for our side and this proves to be the case as Harry breaks clear again , feeds the ball to Captain James , who cleverly holds the ball up and releases it to the advancing Jordan Mullaney, who rifles home from the edge of the box, another great finish and team goal 3-0. Half time is upon us before we know it and “the special one” tells his young side not to change a thing, just keep doing what you are doing and more to the point keep working for each other! Restart and we have a scare, for once Jamie Sugden and Dolby are caught out by a wicked deflection, but Ben is off his line and clears any chance of conceding, as you would expect from a keeper of his undoubted class. We extend our lead with a well taken effort from the ever impressive Dale, who was again fed by James, who combines well with Oli, James cleverly fed in Dale and the rest as they say is history 4-0. Kick off and we are straight on the offensive and James buries the ball past the keeper, a brilliant left footed finish skipper 5-0. Restart and the ever reliable Thomas Simpson is subbed for Danny Scott and Alex is on for the impressive Harry. Danny feeds Captain fantastic , who is helped out by a marauding Jamie Sugden who as ever will never give up the ball with out a fight and Suggys effort is just wide of the mark. Straight from the dead ball Scotty collects the ball to Alex who lifts it over the advancing defence only for Oli to lob it over their over worked keeper onto the roof of the net, good move though. Sub Jamie Smith is on for James, who again has led by example and young Smithy is straight into the thick of it and wins a hard tackle, the ball finds its way to Robbie who finishes a calmly as you like (nice goal Robbie) 6-0. We just have time for one more lung busting effort from Jamie Sugden, which goes just wide and that is that! Great effort lads you all have played your part today and are all now part of a well organised unit. Well played Man of the Match Jordan Mullaney and well deserved it was too!

As we walk from our cars to today’s allotted pitch, we are greeted by the sad site of one of our main strikers Jake Kumar on crutches, a hip injury we believe, but it is good to see him up and about none the less! Then as we near the pitch I am reprimanded by the “special one" (Jose` Bennett), that I wrongly named Harry as Man of the Match for lasts weeks fixture against Sandy Lane and in fact it should have been Ben, sorry mate the trouble is you have set yourself such high standard week in week out, well it’s only a matter of time before the big clubs (Newcastle I believe) come knocking on our door!. On with the match and we are ready for this one, today’s visitors gave us “a good hiding” at their place earlier in the season and we have steeled ourselves since then and we believe we are now more of a match for them? Kick off and we are involved in a midfield battle, an area we were found wanting in the earlier fixture, but not this time even though Tom Simpson is absent this week (it’s rumoured he is talking to Man Utd) we have in the centre Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett and the ever reliable Danny Scott and no quarter is given by those two. Our guests make the first threat on goal and as ever Ben is off his line quickly and dives bravely at their strikers feet , who was being ushered away by the impressive Jamie Sugden, from Bens kick out Oli flicks the ball on to James , who brings out a great save from the BD3 keeper . We now are in the ascendancy with Dale and Harry, who are a real threat down their respective flanks and are being helped out as ever by our two swashbuckling full backs Josh and Jordan Mullaney. Half time and Jose` and Tony reassure our lads that “even though it may not be pretty” sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves and run yourself into the ground for your team and indeed as the match unfolded , this was to be the case! Restart and James makes one of serveral breaks, he picks the ball up on the halfway line and makes a “b line” for their goal, only to see his effort go just wide. I have to say in recent weeks Captain James really has come to the fore and is leading by example (keep it up mate) , then disaster strikes a quick BD3 break is halted by Tom (take no prisoners) Dolby and we concede a corner, from which we harshly concede a penalty , I know it’s an old saying but I am sure it hit his chest and not his arm , but the refs decision is final and for once Ben is beaten , by a well taken strike 0-1. Jose` shows his final hand and Brings on Alex for Oli (one of those who worked his socks off), Jamie Smith for Danny Scott (another who worked his socks off) and the tough tackling Robbie for Josh (who as ever was on top form) and despite that wealth of talent coming off the bench, the game sadly slipped from our grasp! Yes it was one of those days , but we walked away with our heads held high , we gave one of the best teams in the League an almighty fright and to be brutally honest “we was robbed” . Special Mentions to Man of the Match (the best Defender I have seen) Jamie Sugden and in my mind Jordan “how did I miss that” Hizzett, really stood up along side Captain James, when it mattered! Well played fellas, surely that must have felt better?

We arrive at Bellevue School on a cold and windy but very sunny morning and luckily for our young charges, we do not have to spend too long keeping warm before we are underway. Kick off and our hosts mount an early raid and Ben has to be on his guard smothering an early assault on our goal, Ben kicks straight out and Captain James outpaces our hosts defence and his resulting shot is plucked out of the air by our hosts giant keeper , good save mate. We start to exert a sustained amount of pressure, with Oli, James, Harry, Dale and Jordan Hizzett all going close, but as yet not close enough, but encouragingly we are playing a good structured sort of football that many a coach would be proud of surely it’s only a matter of time? And it comes sooner rather than later, Oli hassles a defender into a mistake and feeds the ball to James, who this time slots the ball home at last 1-0. James and Oli are starting to look the part up front as week by week they begin to understand each others runs and thoughts, but like every good team structure ours is built in a solid foundation and backbone, which is a hard working central midfield partnership (Thomas Simpson & Jordan Hizzett) , two willing and hard working old fashioned wingers (Dale & Harry) , who in turn are supported by two hard tackling and lightening quick full backs (Jordan Mullaney & Josh) , two solid and tenacious centre halves (Jamie Sugden and Thomas Dolby) and quite simply , the best Goal keeper I have ever seen (Ben Radcliffe), add to this a bench today which , has the likes of Danny Scott, Jake Kumar, Jamie Smith and Robbie Duck , on our day we are a match for anyone and today is I am glad to say one of those days! Back to the match and Josh releases dale, who rounds his full back and releases Oli who outpaces his marker and passes it passed the keeper 2-0. Restart and the impressive Jordan Hizzett is fed by a marauding Jordan Mullaney and is unlucky to see his effort go just wide. Oli (who has picked up a niggling shoulder injury) is subbed for Jake Kumar (another classy striker in the Dean Ashton mould) and that signals the end of the half. A quick word of encouragement from Tony and Roger and we are back underway and Dolby and Jamie Sugden have to be alert to snuff out any thought of a fight back from our hosts and we are straight on the attack again, with Harry who breaks free and rattles the bar and as the ball rebounds out James is there again with a cool side foot past their stranded keeper 3-0. Restart and Harry release James and needless to say 4-0. As the next 10 minutes unfolds, our hosts begin to turn the screw and despite our back fours efforts, Ben is brought into action not once but twice, our hosts are a good side and will not throw the towel in! Sub Danny is on for a tiring Jake and will add plenty of pace and willingness to our attack and he is joined on the pitch by Jamie Smith (another hard working utility player) who replaces Dale, who again has played his part for the cause. No sooner have the changes been made than we add to our tally 5-0, Harry is fed in by James and he finishes clinically. Sub Robbie (another tough tackling robust player) is on for the hard working Thomas Simpson (who as ever has covered every blade of grass) and James breaks again, with the same outcome 6-0, another good team goal. Ben has to be alert again as Sandy lane mount another serious assault on our goal, as Ben rolls the ball out to Jamie Sugden , he sets off on one of those marathon runs of his and is unlucky to see his effort sail just wide of the mark, good effort mate. With only seconds left on the clock we save the best until last and Jordan (how did I miss that ) Hizzett , who has never stopped working up and down the pitch breaks clear and hammers hard and low past their stranded keeper and nearly repeats his feat , but fails to convert the last of his chances, but he did get there! Good finish Jordan 8-0. Full time and Harry is awarded the Man of the Match award this week and congratulations to him. You all played very well today and more importantly you played the game as a team, which is a credit to your and your coaches efforts, but a word to the wise, a good team can adapt to any sort of opponent and any style of play, lets bring this type of performance to the game every week no matter who we play? Well played fellas!!!!!!!!!!!

U13s -Vs- Nabwood Rangers u13s. - Home

Draw: 1 - 1

We welcome today the return game with today’s opponents Nabwood Rangers, who as mentioned in earlier reports, are a very good footballing side and we were at the top of our game on the last meeting and will have to better that today to get anything at all out of this game! Anyway to the match and both teams are assembled both sides of the halfway way line to observe a minutes silence for remembrance Sunday , which is observed impeccably by all concerned and off we go and we are straight on the attack with Danny keeping the ball well and feeds Oli who brings out a good early save from our opponents keeper, a promising start which is the sign of things to come for the first quarter of the game as we push Nabwood back time after time as their keeper makes good saves from Captain James , Dale , Harry and Oli , but we cannot gain any advantage at all , indeed Jamie Sugden , Josh , Jordan Mullaney and Thomas Dolby have to be on their guard , as our opponents threaten Bens Goal on a few occasions just before the break and after all of our creative play we could have been one down, but that’s football you can’t take anything for granted and all we need is a cool head in front of goal , which we know will come if we keep playing like this! The second half sees Jordan Hizzett replace the ever Improving Danny Scott and we kick off Thomas Simpson goes in as hard as ever and wins the ball well for his team, he passes to Harry who lays the ball on for Dale, who rounds his full back and slots the ball wide of their keeper, good finish and at last what we deserve 1-0. Restart and we win the ball back through the impressive Jordan Hizzett, who releases Oli, but he is on his own, but he holds it up well and wins free kick on the edge of the box, that was good play by Jordan Hizzett, who continues to improve on his already high standards, it’s not many players who can slot into one of several positions and influence the game! From the free kick James works an opening for Harry who is closed down well after beating several opposing defenders, again good team football. From the dead ball Nabwood break and Dolby closes down their impressive striker and is helped out by Jamie Sugden, who charges down the pitch in typical fashion only to be fouled as he threatened to increase our lead. Oli (another good effort mate) is subbed by Jake Kumar and from James’s free kick, Harry again beats a couple of defenders , but again we can’t beat their keeper!, you can just see what’s going to happen. Sub Jamie Smith comes on for Man of the Match Harry (another energetic and willing effort mate) and as stated earlier, we are starting to get pinned down deep in our half and are thankful not to concede thanks to Ben who makes a couple of outstanding saves (as we have come to expect, from a keeper of his undoubted class), but to no avail, Jordan Mullaney can’t keep two of them at bay and Ben is well beaten down to his right 1-1. Sub and Danny returns for the injured Jordan Mullaney (thankfully nothing serious though) , Harry is back on for the hard working and ever improving Thomas Simpson and Robbie on for Jake ( who still looks as though his is having trouble with his leg which was injured earlier in the season). Than Captain James picks the ball up from Josh halfway in our half and he sets off and beats everyone in his way, outpaces the last defender, surely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No again the excellent Nabwood Rangers keeper saves them again and that as they say is that! We played very well , missed a couple of chances , but more encouragingly we are starting to play the game as a team and are all wanting the ball and making the runs. We will play a lot worse and get the win!! Well played to Man of the Match Harry! And indeed to all our players today , a good team effort, a pat on the back to you all!!

We arrive at Nabwood for our 11 o’clock kick off against our hosts Nabwood Rangers, on a cold and sunny but very windy morning. Kick off and we are straight on the attack , Jordan Hizzett passes the ball through to Oli who rounds their centre half and brings out a good early save from our hosts keeper, then Captain James is fed in by Man of the Match Thomas Simpson and shoots just wide, things are looking good from the off! Then the break through we are looking for Dale is put through again by Tom Simpson , he beats the full back , lays the ball to Oli who jinks around the centre half and chips the advancing keeper 1-0 and a well taken strikers goal and a well deserved Idle lead! From the kick off Nabwood show us what a good footballing side they are by splitting us wide open, only for the reliable Jamie Sugden to stop their move in its tracks, helped out by his central defensive partner Tom Dolby as ever, we relieve the pressure with the ball being fed to Harry who beats two defenders, short ball to Oli who puts the ball into Captain James who outpaces their defence and slots the ball home in typically efficient fashion 2-0. Kick off and the ever reliable Josh feeds Oli who instead of attacking their last man shoots and as we all turn away , unfortunately for their keeper , the ball squirms under his body , well I suppose if you don’t take a gamble you won’t win the prize 3-0. Our central midfield pairing of Jordan Hizzett and Thomas Simpson are really starting to work for each other and help each other cover and help out our attack on a regular basis which is great to see from ones so young and the latter feeds Jamie Sugden who embarks on a typical length of the field run only to see his resulting shot at goal thwarted by their impressive keeper, good effort mate. Half time sees Roger and Tony can only tell our boys to carry on doing what they were in the first half and do not let up , as our opponents are by no means a push over as their first half football display has shown! Second half kick off sees Harry and Danny combining well again down our right, the latter feeding James who crosses perfectly for Dale to coolly slot home 4-0, a good finish Dale! After the restart Nabwood force us onto the back foot and Ben has to be alert in goals as we are put under the cosh and produces a string of great save (as ever). Roger sees this as a chance to freshen things up and replaces Man of the Match Thomas Simpson with the energetic Jamie Smith , who is straight into his stride and feeds Dale , who skilfully skips past the full back and crosses for Oli to volley towards goal , only to see the Nabwood keeper turn it round the post for an Idle corner which is subsequently cleared, only for James to pick the ball up on the half way line out pace their back line and hammer past their stricken keeper , what a great finish worthy of any match 5-0! Alex replaces Danny Scott (another hard working performance mate) , but Nabwood break and despite a great save from Ben in between the sticks we at last concede and a well taken goal it is (good finish young man) 5-1. From the restart Alex forces a corner, which is accurately taken by James who picks out Dale at the far post, who for the second time in the game applies a “cool as you like finish” 6-1. From the restart we loose possession cheaply in the middle of the park and pay the price by conceding again 6-2 Jake replaces the hard working Oli upfront and makes an impact straight away by feeding Captain James deep in our half , only to see him run the full length of the field and hammer home a well earned hatrick (a good Captains Knock) and that as they say is that 7-2! A great team performance, a well deserved win by every one of you working your socks off, but a word to the wise Nabwood will be back at ours next week, so we need at least what you gave today. A special mention to Man of the Match Thomas Simpson, one of our unsung heroes!

We kick off on a typically windy day at the top of Baildon. At first we are straight on the attack, with Tom Simpson linking up well with Harry and James in midfield, but in no time we are one down by an unluckily deflected goal, which was no ones fault, it was just one of those things, we did not clear the ball and a wicked deflection and one nil down, not the sort of start we were looking for! From the restart we are pegged back for a long time and cannot seem to clear our lines at all despite the efforts of Jamie Sugden and Thomas Dolby at centre half, but to be totally unbiased when we do get it clear it seems to be coming straight back and the inevitable happens two nil you could see it coming a mile off, we don’t seem to be the team we were against the mighty Nabwood A last week, come on lads wake up! Kick off again and Dale lobs the ball over the top to Danny Scott, who does well to get in a shot and bring a good save from the Shipley keeper, that’s better mate. A quick Shipley attack is halted by the ever reliable Jordan Hizzett in goal, who in a flash kicks the ball out to Dale on the left wing, who in turn sends the ball in to the box for Harry to smash home, that’s better Idle that’s what you can do when one or two of you “put your foot in”. Straight from the off Shipley put us under pressure and I am afraid to say as before the two centre half’s along with Josh and Jordan Mullaney are all alone and we go three one down , poor Mr Hizzett is left with no chance again. Restart and Josh feeds Dale who skips around the full back nips into the box and hammers the ball home into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance , good goal and at last we are back in the game three two. Half time and Rodger and Tony are telling our lads that they are all asleep and if they want to play in a team, they need to work a lot harder than at present! Second half and we are on the attack in the shape of Oli and James who combine well to send Harry clear but the keeper is out in a flash to clear his line well, a missed header we let the ball bounce and the Shipley striker finishes off well, once again leaving Jordan Hizzett with no chance four two. After the restart there is a clash of heads and thankfully both players are okay, but to be on the safe side Danny Scott is substituted for the willing Jamie Smith. The ball seems to be bogged down in midfield for a while and we rely on Harry, Thomas Simpson and Captain James to work their socks off to keep us afloat. Rodger can see the game slipping away and decides to put on Alex for Dale and Robbie for Josh, but we can’t keep them out and end up going further behind five two. For the last five minutes Jamie Sugden is pushed upfront and as ever nearly changes the game with one lung bursting run which brings out a good save from the Shipley Keeper, but that’s that another week and another defeat! If I dare say that at the risk of offending anyone, I think that most of our lads today need to look at their selves in the mirror and say that they enjoy playing in the way that they did today, well it may be time that one or two went back to their play stations and leave the football to the lads that will try for 90 minutes and bust a gut for the cause, come on lads you know you can do better than this!! Note: A great effort in nets by Man of the Match Jordan Hizzett.

Keighley Shamrocks U13s. -Vs- U13s - Away
08 Oct 2006 Kick-off 13:00
Won: 1 - 3

|
We arrive at the excellent Marley stadium facility on the outskirts of Keighley, for our early afternoon kick off against Keighley Shamrocks U13s. We know today’s opponents quiet well from the Bolton woods tournament in the summer and we remember only too well that they are a force to be reckoned with! From the start it is evident that we are quiet strong on the attack and show early on that we mean business, with James, Oli, dale and Jordan Hizzett all bringing good saves from our hosts keeper, we look particularly strong down both flanks with Josh and Dale down the left and Jordan Mullaney and Harry down the right causing mayhem as they raid forward at will. Keighley do play their part in an enthralling game, and Jamie Sugden and Thomas Dolby have to be on their toes, to keep our hosts at bay, right on cue their striker has a long punt which leaves keeper Ben with no chance.1-0, you would have to say it was against the run of play, but that’s football and we have to pick ourselves back up and carry on with what we have been doing. A few minutes after the restart Thomas Simpson is brought on to replace Harry , who has picked up a knock ( nothing too serious though) and is straight into the thick of the action as is his way and he creates a chance for Jake , who brings out a good save from the opposition keeper. Danny Scott replaces the tiring Jake Kumar and partners Oli upfront and has an immediate effect, a lovely one two with Jordan Hizzett and Scotty shoots and only just wide. Half time and Roger and Tony can only tell our boys to keep doing what we are doing and be patient, we are doing the good things right and doing them well. We carry on where we left off from the off and players of note are Captain James and Tom Simpson, who seem to be every where, (it’s good to see young players who are prepared to sweat for their team) Substitute and Harry is on for Jordan Hizzett who has had another very good game and Jake Kumar Back on for Oli, who has worked their back line very hard and all he needs is a goal or two to do his confidence the world of good. Josh earns us a free kick on the edge of their area with a good supporting run and there it is 1-1 and a well hit dead ball from James, to be fair it has been coming. From the restart we bring on Jamie Smith for Dale who has played well as ever and straight away we have to make another Sub as Tom Simpson falls awkwardly on his arm and is replaced by the returning Jordan Hizzett. Thankfully x-rays prove later that Thomas has only bruising to his lower arm, so good news there then. On with the action and Jamie Smith feeds James who hammers home 1-2 and surely now we won’t let this slip? Dale returns replacing Jake up front, who once again continues to improve with every game and this one stroke of managerial genius, wins us the game, as in the dying seconds Dale breaks free from the half line, out paces the Shamrocks defence and lobs the keeper as coolly as you like and that is that! It was nice to see all of our boys work hard for each other and get stuck in where it can hurt instead of turning our backs and jumping in the air! Well played to man of the match Harry, who continues to impress on every occasion.

We arrive on a cold wet morning at South Craven School for our 10 o’clock kick off, after the long trip from sunny down town Idle (Gods country). We start this week with a change of forward line, the ever willing Jamie Sugden is partnering Jake Kumar and after an indifferent start Oli is keeping the bench warm with Jamie Smith, Robbie and Danny Scott. We are off and straight away looking for the willing runs of young Mr Sugden, who as ever will give his all for the cause and the cunning perception of Jake up front.! The game is an end to end thriller and we give as good as we get, even though Sutton are a very good footballing side we are unlucky to see good efforts from Dale , Josh , James and Harry test our hosts back line. At last a break through James punts in a long range effort and 1-0 to us! Sutton really start to turn the screw from the kick off and Dolby, Josh, Jordan’s Hizzett and Mullaney do all they can to stem the tide, even a string of out of this world saves from Ben in goals cannot stop the inevitable and we are back on level terms, to be fair a good opportunists goal by the Sutton forward! As stated earlier make no mistake Sutton are a very good footballing side and they are starting to turn the screw and out comes Ben our keeper and bravely dives at their strikers feet , he takes the ball then momentum takes him into the Sutton striker who is upended , he is on the floor in pain , the Sutton coaching staff are on the pitch in a flash and thankfully no serious injury to the stricken player (They really did come together quite hard , but thankfully no serious injuries to either player).Unfortunately in the heat of the moment words were exchanged between both coaching staffs , but at the end of the day it’s all about the kids and their progression and enjoyment of the game and as stated earlier thankfully both players got up and walked away and in the case of the Sutton striker , went on to run rings round us!(well played fella!). As the game progressed we did have our chances and were very upset at the 5-1 final score, but can take heart from the fact that we did play our part in a fantastic to watch spectacle and performances to note were from Man of the Match Captain James Bennett, Thomas Simpson, Josh, Harry and Dale, who covered every blade of grass and on another day, well who knows? Well played and good luck to our hosts for the day Sutton U13s, for the rest of the season.

We arrive at our pitch after a heavy down pour and we are all wearing coats etc and within minutes the weather has changed for the better, but not for both teams of players having to run around, the heat is so stifling, they will need plenty of fluids during and after the match. We are off, we are straight on the attack and Jake Kumar feeds Oli who lobs the ball over the top James is on to it and a good shot sees us force an early corner, which is taken quickly and sees man of the match Josh power a shot just over the upright, with the keeper routed to the spot. After 10 mins Eldwick string together a neat midfield move and try to unlock our defence, but Jamie Sugden, Josh, Dolby and young Mr Mullaney are having none of it! As ever the skilful Dale Chadwick is working hard down our left flank and combined with Josh, are a force to be reckoned with. As mentioned earlier the heat is already taking it’s toll and Jake is substituted for Thomas Simpson , who is straight into the game , he feeds Josh who in turn lays the ball through to Dale , he dummy’s the right back taps the ball to Jordan Hizzett , who belts the ball hard towards their goal , the keeper does well to parry the shot out and oli swings his left foot at it but just over the bar , another well worked team move straight from the training ground , it’s good to see all of our boys wanting the ball and shouting to each other , after most went missing during last weeks game. Another of our new signings this season is Harry Rowe , who is in the James Bennett mould , he gets all over the pitch and he is more than capable of working at this rate for the entire match and is still improving every game (keep it up mate ). Eldwick relieve the pressure just before half time and would you believe it we are one nil down , a well taken goal by what looks to be their best player ( Dolby’s cousin I think) poor Ben had no chance , still we all appreciate good football at Idle no matter which team it comes from , good finish. Half time sees Oli subbed for Jake (good effort Oli, much better than last week, if you can get that consistency, who knows?). The second half is a copy of the first and we play some fantastic team football, but we do everything bar score, we will play a lot worse and win, but that’s football lads. Roger and Tony have to keep shuffling their players on and off due to the heat and we see Leighland, Danny, Jamie Smith and Robbie all come off the bench and who else in the league can bring on players with their commitment on in the second half, all influence the game but to no avail, same as the fist half I am afraid and once again Ben is left with no chance, despite a full length diving effort. Our boys will learn that football can be a very cruel game at times, but heads up lads you played well as a team and that is the object of the exercise!

A lovely sunny afternoon , sees us trekking across Woodhall playing fields from our parking places , following one of Rogers famous short cuts (I don’t think I have ever been as far on holiday) and finally arrive at our hosts pitch an hour or so later , but none the worst for wear. From then on apart for another great display in goals from Ben , a man of the match performance from Jordan Hizzett and great “all hands to the pumps” efforts from Josh , Tom Dolby and the ever reliable Jordan Mullaney I am afraid to say it was all down hill , we were never at the races , all the effort put in by the dynamic duo with our boys in training just seemed to go out of the window for most of us and all we seemed to be doing was skipping about like Michael Flattely and keeping out of the balls way ( or was it as I thought a hot potato ). Our hosts and their players as in the words of the match day referee were the politest bunch I have ever refereed (enough said). Let’s hope that we can put this behind us and get back to what we do best and that means plenty of sweat and tears if that’s what it takes!

At last it’s here, the day we have been waiting for all Summer long all of those long sunny days, listening to those famous words “I’m bored me” well no more, that famous duo Roger and Tony are back and this time no expense has been spared, they have been over generous with their transfer budget during the summer window and have bought well in key positions. Anyway on to the game and straight away we are putting our visitors Sandy Lane under pressure, they try to counter and Thomas Simpson (our new midfield dynamo) is snapping into the tackle and feeds Captain Marvel James Bennett and we force a corner, which is taken quickly by James, Oli controls well has a shot which is blocked, but waiting outside the box is Jordan Mullaney who rockets home our first goal of the campaign, great finish mate 1-0. Straight from the kick off we are back on the offensive and Dale is fouled at the edge of the box, from the free kick the ball is worked to Harry who hammers it home 2-0 and no more than we deserve. Kick off and Sandy Lane get the ball down to our end and bring out a great save from our excellent Keeper Ben , who is as good a keeper as you will find in any of the divisions. A long kick out from Ben, Oli controls the ball well and sends James Galloping clear on a typical buccaneering run; he gets into the box and slips a neat little ball through to Dale who rifles home 3-0 a good finish, but more to the point a great team goal. From the kick off the ball is slipped through clinically by Danny Scott into the path of Jordan Mullaney who carries the ball into the danger area and cleverly slips the ball to James, who lashes the ball past the keeper and nearly pulls the posts out of the ground, 4-0. The next passage of play sees us involved in a midfield skirmish, with our illustrious visitors and we are well represented in the shape of Danny, Thomas Simpson, Dale and James and are more than able to hold our own, although our defence of Jamie Sugden, Josh, Thomas Dolby and Jordan Mullaney backed up by Ben in Goals have to be on their guard, as our visitors knock the ball around well and constantly pose a very real threat and are a credit to their coaching staff. Thomas Simpson is constantly putting himself about and typifies this, when he dives into a crowd of players to win the ball and is left nursing a large bump on his head and is subbed for safety’s sake and is replaced by the very capable Jordan Hizzett. From the restart the ball is fed to Oli, who carries the ball to the edge of the area and neatly slides the ball through to an in-flight Harry, who neatly slides the ball past the keeper 5-0, another good team effort and well finished off Harry. From the restart Jordan Hizzett is fed at the edge of the box by a precise long ball from Thomas Dolby and blasts the ball past the stranded keeper, just like he does every week at training 6-0 great finish Mr Hizzett. Sandy Lane push us back for the first time in the game and Jamie Sugden and Josh are working overtime with Ben who rushes from his line and bravely saves at their striker’s feet, a quality save mate. Ben kicks the ball out and Oli picks it up on the half way line , beats the last defender and as he is bearing down on goal their keeper advances and Oli chips him as neat a finish as you like, good strikers finish mate well done 7-0. Half time and that is the best half of football that we have ever played and it shows , our lads have nearly ran themselves to a standstill and need to use the break to get some air back into their lungs. The second half as expected did not live up to the first , but there were a lot of positives that came out of it , Ben made a typically great save from a penalty, Robbie Duck made his debut replacing Oli and straight away , Robbie feeds James who finishes in typically clinical fashion 8-0. Jamie Smith and Leighland replace Dale and Harry (good game fellas) and as you would expect slot straight into the game and are a credit to themselves and their team mates. Final whistle and we can’t wait until next week’s game, we are sure that a European place could be a distinct possibility? Well good luck to our visitors Sandy Lane and their supporters, you played your part in a great game and will play a lot worse and end up on the winning side. The Man of the Match award goes this week to Oli , well played mate.
