U12s -Vs- Undercliffe. - Home

23 Apr 2006
Kick-off 13:30

Lost: nil - 1

Well its here the day that all of us footballing parents hate, the last match of the season. It’s a glorious sunny afternoon, as we welcome our last opponents in the shape of Undercliffe U12s, who as we know from previous encounters are a very big and capable unit.
The game itself went passed in an instant, as ever we were led by Captain James , who also picked up another Man of the match award and despite great efforts from all of our usual suspects, we fall to the old break away sucker punch routine and end up the wrong side of a 0-1 score line.
I do however think that this game marked a significant landmark for our young fledgling side, as it is their first season playing together, not only playing on a full size pitch, but also for quite a few indeed the first time that they have ever played in an organised football match, yes indeed some achievement!
This season we have been led by James Bennett, who covers every blade of grass and is always a willing runner, for the cause, assisted by in alphabetical order,
Dale Chadwick, who is one of the few players who can run a pace with the ball under control and has a great eye for goal.
Jan Dirda, who has great skills and vision way beyond his years.
Thomas Dolby, who will never shirk a tackle and has matured in to a more than capable centre half,
Sam Dutton, who never stops working and is becoming the type of midfielder that every club must have. (Thanks for helping out in goals mate.)
Alex Green, who where ever he plays always gives 110% (a coach’s dream) and lets the opponents know they are in a game.
Jordan Hizzett, who tackles like a lad twice his size and works for the full duration of every match,
Jake Kumar, who will never allow any of his opponents a moment’s peace and is always on the look out for goal scoring opportunities,
Josh Mazurke, who is one of the best positional defenders I have seen all season long and very rarely, misses a tackle.
Jordan Mullaney, our other regular full back who never gives his winger a moments rest and is as quick as they come.
Oli Ramsay, who has developed into a good forward, who can hold up play as well as take on a defender.
Jake Rhoads, who was coming along nicely and never let anyone down with the effort he puts in.
Danny Scott, who where ever he plays is a credit to himself with the effort and enthusiasm he brings to the side.
Jamie Sugden, who is quite simply one if not the best centre half I have seen this season and is always 110% committed.
Leighland Whitehead, who for me is Mr Idle u12s, this young man has improved beyond all recognition and plays with passion pride and total enthusiasm.
Last but not least, thanks to Tony and Roger for all their hard work and effort that they have shown both on and off the pitch over the last season , I think that I echo the thoughts of all the players parents in saying, thanks for putting a smile on our kids faces, its much appreciated.
Cheers??
p.s. Also to mention safe hands Dolby, who is there to keep Roger and Tony in line.
These opinions are only mine and if i have caused offence over the last season it is not intentional.

U12s -Vs- Nabwood A. - Home

09 Apr 2006
Kick-off 13:30

Lost: 1 - 10

The last of our cup games today see`s the return match versus Nabwood A , who as I have mentioned in previous reports, are about as good a team as we are ever likely to face and to illustrate this field what we are led to believe is a full strength side, ah well here goes!
As mentioned earlier, Nabwood really are a polished outfit and sadly for us we manage to catch them when they are on song and despite gallant efforts from all our lads, notably the ever reliable defensive unit of Jamie, Daniel (in defence for the injured Jordan Mullaney), Thomas and Leighland (in defence for the sick Josh Mazurke) helped out by Sam in goals, we end up on the wrong end of what can only be described as a footballing lesson, 1-10 to the worse.
We can take pleasure from a well taken Strikers finish from the ever improving Oli, who as ever was helped out by Jake Kumar up front and supported in Midfield by Captain James, Dale, Jan and Man of the match Jordan Hizzett (well deserved too.)
This week I have not gone it to too much depth about match performances, as I feel it would deflect too much from the afore mentioned excellent performance of our visitors, once again well played lads and good luck for the future.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jan Dirda, Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton [GK], Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar, Oliver Ramsay (1), Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

Nabwood A -Vs- U12s - Away

26 Mar 2006
Kick-off 12:00

Lost: 8 - 2

Away today to Nabwood A and a chance to measure just how far we have come this season, but as we wait at the Rec things gradually go from bad to worse. Oli our striker is ruled out with a stiff neck, Captain James is away for the day and Jordan Mullaney is still on the sick list with his broken arm, three good players missing there, but when you look at the team sheet, it is still a strong line up even if we don’t have any subs. Things take a turn for the worse when Jake and Jan are not present when we set off!
We field only nine men for the first fifteen or twenty minutes and in no time at all against this class of opposition we are 4-0 down, despite the excellent centre half partnership of Jamie and Thomas.
At last our two missing players arrive and as if by magic, the impressive Danny and Alex combine and Jan finishes well 4-1.
Alex, Danny and Leighland really have come on leaps and bounds over the last month or so and are now pushing the other lads hard, for a regular and well deserved starting spot.
Nabwood show us why they are such a classy side, when in three passes go from the half way line to the back of our net, what a finish 5-1, a real pleasure to see.
Half time sees Tony trying to rally the lads, but we do look a little shell shocked to be truthful.
Kick off and we are straight under pressure, Alex has replaced Sam in nets at half time and makes not one but two good saves, but just as Jamie clears, their forward hammers home another wonder goal, you can’t stop those lads 6-1.
From the kick off we break with Leighland, Sam and Danny combining well, but we can not pass their back line. No sooner have they taken the goal kick , their winger takes on Josh , crosses the ball and the forward rises up and nods it past Alex 7-1 and another great goal , just to emphasise the point , as the Nabwood players celebrate I look round the pitch and all supporters are stood applauding , enough said.
Straight from the kick off, man of the match Dale takes the ball down the wing, lays it back for Jordan Hizzett, who drops it back to Jake K, who passes it through to Leighland, a quick one two with Jordan Hizzett, the ball ricochets off their defender and as quick as a flash Danny Scott is on to it, he outpaces the defender and coolly slots it home 7-2. A great finish and well deserved Danny, well done mate!
As the game closes we tire badly (understandably as we played the first 20 mins or so with only 9 men), Jamie is trying hard to plug the gaps, but another good finish sees us finish 8-2 to the worse.
One point I think worth mentioning, was the admirable morals of the Nabwood coaching staff, when Tom mistimed a tackle and brought down a Nabwood forward, he sprang to his feet and had a wild swing at Tom, as soon as the Ref blew his whistle to restore order the Nabwood coach called the Ref across to him, he had requested that the lad in question be subbed immediately and take no further part in the game. As he was leaving the field, the rest of the Nabwood players were shaking their heads at him saying “there’s no need for that mate” Well done lads! An excellent sporting gesture and a pleasure to see in these days of professional players throwing themselves to the floor and trying to con Referees, maybe they should take a leaf out of our host’s book.

SQUAD: Dale Chadwick, Jan Dirda (1), Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton, Alex Green [GK], Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar, Joshua Mazurke, Daniel Scott (1), Jamie Sugden [Cptn], Leighland Whitehead.

Ecceshill Eagles -Vs- U12s - Away

19 Mar 2006
Kick-off 12:30

Won: nil - 3

A nice spring afternoon, sees us at home to Eccleshill Eagles for a 12.45 kick off. Standing on the touch line is our right back Jordan Mullaney, who has unfortunately suffered a broken Arm in a non footballing Accident; we all wish you a speedy recovery mate and look forward to your return.
Off we go and we are straight on the attack, with Jan and Capt James combining well to exert some early pressure on the opposition goal, those two in particular with the help of Jordan Hizzett and Dale , are a match for any Midfield in the league, when they get it right and today was one of those days. Countless times we are putting them under enormous pressure and to their credit they hold firm.
A scramble in their box and it looks like Jan gets the last touch 1-0 Idle, well played fellas and well deserved.
From the kick off Eccleshill, who have including their Goal keeper three or four very good players of their own, put our back four of Sam at right back , Jamie and Thomas at centre halves Josh at left back and Alex in goals, on the back foot, but with a back five a classy as that , “they shalt not pass”.
We counter and James attacks down their left and hammers in a belter from what must have been 25 yards 2-0.
Jan is at the middle of all that is good about Idle today and will later receive a deserved Man of the Match award from today’s referee.
Up front again today, we have Jake Kumar and Oli, whom although are very different in styles, do compliment each other well, as ever they are both working their socks off , dropping deep to link up the attack and midfield and also chasing every ball over the top , with their pace and aggression.
It all comes together again for one brief moment and Jordan Hizzett hammers home a screamer from 10 yards outside the box, 3-0 and half time.
Second half sees Alex replaced in goals by Sam and Danny (take no prisoners) Scott coming on to more than ably fill the right back birth.
More Idle pressure , littered with the odd Eccleshill break for the first 15 mins and we are starting to look like a team who has not had a game in over a month, time for Roger and Tony to bring on super sub Leighland , who as always will give you 110% and run him self into the ground. Allied that to the ball playing skills of Jan and the footballing brain of Oli, the keenness in the tackle of Jordan H and Dale and the strength of our back four and we were never going to loose, well played boys and well deserved.
A thought goes out to our Visitors today Eccleshill Eagles, who we believe will no longer be playing together next season. We hope you have second thoughts , but should you not and you want to join a team , who undoubtedly is starting to move in the right direction , then you will always be made welcome , there is always be room for good players such as yourselves , we love a bit of healthy competition for places.
Any off now to young James birthday party, let’s see if we can get Angie speaking Swahili again.

SQUAD: James Bennett (1) [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jan Dirda (1), Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton, Alex Green [GK], Jordan Hizzett (1), Jake Kumar, Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay, Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

Grassington u12s -Vs- U12s - Away

12 Feb 2006
Kick-off 13:30

Lost: 3 - 1

We meet on damp, cold and wet Sunday lunch for our long trip to Grassington; our lads are warming up at the bottom of the Rec and can’t wait to get stuck into our opposition today.
after the long trip we arrive in good spirit, only to be greeted by a pitch which must be at least a foot deep of mud all over, not conducive to the football that we are capable of playing.
Off we go and we are straight on the attack, a quick on two and a good effort from James just wide, good effort James.
The game develops into a midfield slog and we are not used to these conditions, although they are the same for both teams, Grassington do seem to be more suited to this sort of game and quiet simply miss out the middle and keep chipping the ball over it and the ball is then sticking in the mud, for their forwards to run onto, good thinking!!
Seconds later, ball over the top, we fail to clear our lines and we are 1-0 down, despite the efforts of Jamie Sugden who is playing in goals, due to a knock picked up previously.
From the kick off Sam feeds the ball to James, who powers his way down our right wing and crosses the ball, Oli controls, beats a defender and passes to Dale, who’s shot is just wide of the target, good football again Idle, when you get it right, you are a credit to yourselves and your coaches!!
Jake Kumar is catching the eye early on an is becoming a good partner for Oli up front, in midfield Sam is working his socks off as usual alongside Captain James and with the skills of Jan on the right and the pace and strength of Dale on the left, we do look a good side when we get moving forward. At the back we have, two of the best full backs in the League, in the shape of Josh and Jordan Mullaney and at the centre of defence we have Thomas (take no prisoners) Dolby and the hard tackling Jordan Hizzett, who is once again on his way to another faultless man of the match performance and last but not least, in goals this week is Jamie Sugden, who once again proves that he can play well anywhere and keeps us in the game on numerous occasions.
Supporting the starting eleven today are subs, Alex, Leighland and Danny Scott, who as usual, when called upon, give more options for Roger and Tony to utilise, as and when they see fit.
Moments later, same ball and I am afraid to say the same result, despite solid tackling from Tom, Jordan Hizzett and keeper Jamie 2-0.
Straight from the restart, we are encamped in their half and are unlucky not to narrow the gap, Half time.
The second half is a mirror of the first, with the ball bogged down in the mud in the middle for long spells, we unfortunately fall for the old smash and grab trick and are the wrong side of a 3-0 score line, despite a heck of a lot of idle pressure. We do however manage to get a goal back, with a well taken goal from Oli, after good work from the tireless Sam Dutton , but it is not enough and we end up losing 3-1(although I don’t know how!!)
After the game Roger and Tony, tell our boys that the effort today was first rate and if only luck had been on our side well, who knows, that’s better boys, when you put that sort of effort in, you make it all worth while!!
Any way off to a family pub for an early tea on the way home for us all now, which just confirms , what a cracking atmosphere there is with all concerned with Idle u12s, well done Roger, Tony and Adele Safe hands Dolby, Cheers!!
P.S. Thanks to our hosts Grassington and good luck for the Future.

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jan Dirda, Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton, Alex Green, Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar, Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay (1), Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden [GK], Leighland Whitehead.

Thornton U12s. -Vs- U12s - Away

05 Feb 2006
Kick-off 10:30

Lost: 5 - 1

A 10.30 am kick off, for our boys away to Thornton u12s. We arrive at the ground full of optimism, wanting to get back to winning ways, after the previous game away to Silsden.
We are off and straight away on the attack, with Jake Kumar leading the line well and shooting just wide, good start boys. A swift counter attack from Thornton, makes us realise that as well as being a big solid side, they can play a bit as well and their front line is putting us under more pressure, we are thankful to Jan , who makes a fine save, from their impressive striker.
Jan really is a quality player, who once again is showing his versatility by this time filling in between the sticks.
A long punt down field from Jan and Jake Kumar is on to it, he holds off the defender and hammers it in to the roof of the net 0-1.
As in previous morning games, we look very lethargic and straight from the kick off, it’s 1-1, a smartly taken goal from their centre forward, he walked straight through the middle of us, with only Jamie Sugden putting in a meaningful challenge!!
The game develops into a midfield battle, with Jordan Hizzett, putting himself about well and trying to plug all the leaking holes, not to mention our midfield dynamo Sam, who as usual is covering every blade of grass along side Capt James, oh no too late 2-1, same sort of goal as the first!
We are not threatening their goal at all now, the ball just keeps coming back at our defence, who today are Jordan Mullaney, Thomas, Jamie and Josh, Leighland has started today, on the left hand side and has fitted in nicely, in place of the Ill Dale Chadwick, (hope you are better soon mate.).
Half time is here and we are still involved in a midfield skirmish and to be totally honest are thankful that the score is only what it is!!
At half time Roger and Tony tell our boys that they must wake up and start to try to get a foot in, come on boys it’s no different from training honest!!! Even our resident lines man Alan (one of the politest men you will ever meet) is stirred into loud vocal support, echoing our coach’s thoughts.
Second half and we are off and playing up hill this time, will the ball hold up for Oli and Jake K?? . James plays the ball through to Sam, who chips it over their defence and Oli is on to it, at last movement up front, he cuts inside their centre half, shoots and earns us a corner, after a good save from their keeper. From the corner, Thornton clear and break quickly, only to be halted by Jordan Hizzett, who is playing out of his skin, we look much stronger now fellas keep it up!!
Jamie is subbed for Danny Scott, who is straight into the thick of it and we continue to compete much more than in the first period.
Second sub and Jake K is replaced up front by Alex Green, who is straight into his stride hunting the ball down, as soon as it is in his area. James breaks through and fires just wide, that’s nice to see James, a good confident strike and leading from the front as usual, but oh no, Thornton break and its in the back of our net 3-1, good finish young man, route one stuff, but we would settle for it at the moment!
Jordan Hizzet swaps his midfield birth with Jan in goals (good show in goals Jan) and we are off again, Sam lays the ball to James, who powers in another great shot and again is just wide, (good effort again James, no one will tell any of you off for having a shot on goal mate), but as before, the ball is over the top of our defence and is tucked way nicely in the corner of our net 4-1.
As in some of our previous games, we look like we are going tire, but we do not and keep breaking and threatening here and there, but within the last few minutes concede again and finish on the wrong side of a 5-1 defeat, ah well, another week gone and another step further away from Europe!!
After the game, Roger tells our boys that we did not compete enough and were not strong enough on the ball, but I must say that although defeat hurts us all, I know that the lads will be there at training again Thursday night, with a smile on their faces and giving Roger and Tony plenty of ear ache and I know that it is only confidence that is missing and it will come fellas, honest!!
Thanks to our hosts Thornton and good luck for the rest of the season.
If I have not mentioned you all I apologise, i do try to be as unbiased as possible. P.S. a special mention to Man of the Match Jordan Hizzett, well played mate!!

Silsden U12s -Vs- U12s - Away

22 Jan 2006
Kick-off 14:30

Lost: 7 - 2

A foggy cold Sunday morning, see`s us make the journey down the Aire valley, to take on Silsden u12s at their home at the side of the Aire Valley link road, on the outskirts of Silsden itself.
As we arrive we realise, what a large and well organised outfit Silsden are, as we make our way to our pitch, after a little bit of a misunderstanding, with their ever friendly ground staff, we are directed to our pitch, which to Alfie the Border Collies delight is next to a field full of sheep, anyway on with the game.
Off we go and unfortunately straight down towards our goal, the Silsden left winger looks a classy player and Jordan Mullaney will have to be on the top of his game, to deal with his threat for the full 60 minutes.
Sam is called into action several times within the first few minutes of the game and I am afraid to say, that if it was not for him we would be 2 or 3 down within the 1st ¼ of an hour , come on lads, is it the early start that is putting you off, as I spoke to one of our subs (Leighland) on the touch line during a break in play, this was indeed confirmed to me, when a said, “it’s cold innit, I am not usually up at this time of the day”,mmm I thought as much?
Back to the game and in no time at all, we are 3 down and unfortunately, despite our recent good form, not a threat of an Idle goal in sight. Jamie is trying his heart out along side Thomas, but with Silsden swarming forward at every opportunity it’s not looking too good and then a break from Dale down the left, a quick one two and the ball breaks to Capt James and it’s in the back of the net, now then could we??
At half time Tony and Roger get our lads together and tell them in no uncertain terms, that for today at least, we are not being strong enough up front, not closing them down in midfield and not defending as a unit, if we carry on like this, we could be in for a rugby score, come on fellas, do what you have been doing for at least the last month, work as a team!
Off we go for the second half and at last we are able to put their defence under a spell of sustained pressure, but alas to no avail, they break away and score a belter of a goal, although it did have a hint of offside, but no denying the quality of the finish.
We kick off again and after a spell of giving the ball to each other, the ball makes it’s way to Oli, who for one of the few times in the game manages to get the better of their defence , sends the centre half the wrong way and slots it home coolly as you like ,that’s another tenner from his mum and dad and a KFC from his Uncle Martin, who plays for the Silsden senior team and has been giving Oli stick all week, could it happen again, could we turn them over twice in the last three weeks?
No not to be this time , we are well and truly beaten. As I stated earlier, they are a very good side and thoroughly deserved their 7-2 victory, despite the best efforts of Jordan Hizzett, Jamie Sugden, Josh, Jordan Mullaney and Thomas, not to mention Man of the Match Goal keeper Sam Dutton, better luck next week boys!
The match flew by and was enjoyed by all and could I mention, what a friendly lot, the parents of the Silsden Team were and we wish them and their Club good luck for the rest of the season and the future.

SQUAD: James Bennett (1) [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jan Dirda, Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton [GK], Alex Green, Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar, Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay (1), Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

Eccleshill A. -Vs- U12s - Away

15 Jan 2006
Kick-off 14:30

Won: nil - 1

Another game, so soon after our epic encounter against the mighty Silsden and we are up against no less than another class act, in the shape of Eccleshill U12A and at their ground, so another stern test , for our ever improving Boys.
We kick off and we are straight under pressure, with Thomas clearing our defensive lines, but the opposition straight back at us and Jordan Mullaney makes a great tackle to keep his winger at bay.
After about ten minutes, we start to take control of the midfield area, with Dale, captain James and Danny Scott all working hard to get us into the game.
We give away a free kick on the edge of our box, after yet another Eccleshill raid deep into our half, but justice is done, when Sam makes a good save in goals.
We work the ball through the midfield area and manage to exert more sustained pressure on the opposition goal and have good efforts from Jordan Hizzett, Jamie and one from Dale, after solid build up play from Oli and then Goallllllllllllllllllll, an absolutely brilliant solo effort from Dale Chadwick, great goal mate and well taken.
Straight from the restart and James works the ball well to Oli, who holds the ball up well, at the edge of their area, but is clattered from behind and we have a free kick in a dangerous area, James takes it and is unlucky to see his effort go wide of the goal.
Half time and Roger and Tony are full of praise for the effort that the Boys have put in, but now they need to double that , to enable them to keep this very good Eccleshill side at bay.
The second half kicks off, with both teams trying to take control of the midfield areas and we owe a great dept to Danny Scott, who has run his self into the ground and is subbed after about 10 minutes, with Jan replacing him and adding his own attributes to our cause.
Eccleshill are really turning the screw now and a good solo run from their lively no 10 sees Sam brought into action in goals, he is turning into a good Goal keeper, who I starting to command his area, although my own opinion is he is a very good Midfield player, but it is good to see a young man being able to play more than one role.
More opposition pressure, sees Oli subbed for Lee and Jake Kumar is subbed for big Jake Rhoads, but the ball keeps bouncing back towards our back four who as usual, are being well marshalled by Jamie and assisted by, Tom, Jordan Mullaney and the much improved Josh, who has really come on under the guidance of the coaching staff and not to mention Dad Eddie.
Our Midfield are sitting a little deeper and James and Jan are outstanding in their defensive duties.
Josh is subbed for the lively Leighland, who slots straight into the left back role with no problem and its soon backs to the wall again, as our opponents exert yet more pressure and Sam is called into action yet again..
Dale is subbed for Alex, who is trying to buy us some time, but oh no, back they come, this attack is broken down by the hard working Jordan Mullaney, who sets Jan free, who in turn sends big Jake Rhoads free, he holds the ball up well and is helped out by Alex who is working his socks off and putting himself about well.
A few minutes before the final whistle there are a few words from the Referee, which are aimed at a section of our supporters, I can honestly say that although we are a quite large boisterous crowd, but that we are only interested in the welfare of both Teams, the progression of Junior Football and can honestly say that we take on board the comments mentioned and applaud the dedication and commitment, of referees such as this, no malice meant Ref honest!!!
That said the final whistle is blown and we got what we deserved, the post match talk from Roger and Tony is full of admiration for our hosts and for the effort our boys have shown.
A special mention for Man of the Match Jordan Hizzett, who stuck at his man marking job vigorously through out the 90 minutes and defused their most dangerous player throughout, well done Boys!!!

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick (1), Jan Dirda, Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton [GK], Alex Green, Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar, Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay, Jake Rhoads, Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

U12s -Vs- Silsden. - Home

08 Jan 2006
Kick-off 13:30

Won: 2 - 1

A cold damp afternoon, sees our boys, up against the best that there is, in the shape of Silsden,we have had a good Xmas break and are ready for the challenge ahead.
Straight from the off we are applying a lot of pressure to their goal, Jake Kumar is a different player these days, not only is he the very strong and skilful forward that he has always been, but now he has allied that to the ability to bring other players into the game and this can be seen in the way that he and Oli, are fast becoming a formidable partnership up front and starting to worry, even the best defences that we face and with this in mind, we took the lead through a coolly taken goal, which was slotted home with confidence by the ever improving Oli,who really is becoming the player that Tony and Roger think he can be.
In Midfield we have Captain fantastic James,Jan,Hard working Jordan Hizzett and the dangerous Dale Chadwick and today they all played to their full potential, working from box to box, supporting the attack and muscling up in defence. Speaking of Defence, as I have mentioned in previous reports, we are well represented there also in the form of Jamie Sugden, who has formed one of the best central defensive partnerships, with the ever reliable Thomas Dolby, who are well complimented by Josh and Jordan Mullaney, not forgetting Sam in goals, who as ever gave his all. Not forgetting that this is a squad game and today the starting eleven, were as ever well supported by Subs, Alex, Big Jake Rhoads,Leighland and Danny Scott, they all played their part, in keeping Silsden at bay, when they most threatened. We witnessed today one of the best goals that we have ever seen, which was a 30 yard strike from Captain Fantastic James(well done mate).
Silsden, really did turn the screw in the second half and our best efforts and at last, a little slice of luck(we were long overdue some) saw us home, well done Boys!! 2-1 to us.
The post match talk, was as you can imagine full of praise, for the above mentioned efforts and we should savour the moment, but next week sees us start all over again!!

SQUAD: James Bennett (1) [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jan Dirda, Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton [GK], Alex Green, Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar, Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay (1), Jake Rhoads, Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

Eccleshill A u12s -Vs- U12s - Away

11 Dec 2005
Kick-off 14:30

Lost: 5 - 2

A cold afternoon at Farmers Field, against Eccleshill u12s A, greets us as we step out of our cars and trudge across the muddy outfield to the pitch,2.30 brings us to kick off and we are under way.
Eccleshill A are a very good footballing side and we know that we are going to have to dig deep to get anything at all out of this game.
In goals we have Sam, a good back four of Josh, Jamie, Thomas and Jordan Mullaney. In Midfield we have, Dale, Capt James, Jordan Hizzet and the ever improving Jan Dirda and upfront we have Jake Kumar and Oli, the subs today are Leighland, Alex and Mr reliable Danny Scott.
We exert quiet a bit of early pressure, via the long ball route, (which is unusual for Idle), Oli is after it in a flash, but to be fair, the opposition centre half, is fairly sharp himself, so no joy there, Jake Kumar is making a couple of his marauding runs, but is well covered.
Disaster strikes and we are one down, it has to be said that their strikers are really a handful and score a belter, leaving Sam with no chance, back up the other end and Jake and Oli combine to get a corner.
James whips it in and the ball is cleared to the edge of the box, where Thomas Dolby is waiting, to volley home a screamer from the edge of the box, well done Tom!!
Our back four are playing well and a lot of credit must go to Jamie Sugden, Thomas Dolby, Josh Mazurke and not forgetting one of the best right backs in the league Jordan Mullaney, as I have previously stated Eccleshill are a very accomplished side and do not appear to have a single weak link.
At half time Roger tells our boys, to keep working and not to loose heart, should we fall behind, however this was certainly not the case and despite ending the game on the wrong side of a 5-2 score line, our lads did themselves and us proud .
Our other goal scorer was, Jake Kumar with a typically worked goal and the Man of the Match was a deserving Jordan Mullaney.
Good effort from you all Lads and despite the arrival of Grandma Denise you held firm, well done!!!

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Jan Dirda, Thomas Dolby (1), Sam Dutton [GK], Alex Green, Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar (1), Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay, Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

U12s -Vs- Thornton Traveller. - Home

27 Nov 2005
Kick-off 13:30

Lost: 3 - 5

Today’s opposition are in the shape of Thornton Traveller and as they warm up, it is clear to see that they are a well drilled bunch and will prove yet another stern test for our boys !
Acting skipper today is Jamie Sugden,in the absence of a sick James Bennett and Jamie is soon in the thick of the action, repelling an early opposition raid straight down the centre, Sam Dutton is also under a great deal of early pressure in our goals.
We do not seem to be at the races at all today and seem unable to keep the ball up front, or indeed in the midfield, though it has to be said that Jan Dirda,is playing a blinder in the midfield, but he does seem to be fighting a loosing battle!
We really never got out of first gear and despite goals from the lively Dale Chadwick, Jan Dirda and one from Jake Kumar coming of the bench, we end up on the wrong end of a 5-3 score line and are well and truly beaten by the better side on the day.
After the game,Roger tells the lads that in no uncertain terms, if they put in another effort like that, then we are all wasting our time!!!

SQUAD: Dale Chadwick (1), Jan Dirda (1), Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton [GK], Alex Green, Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar (1), Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay, Jake Rhoads, Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden [Cptn], Leighland Whitehead.

Sedbergh Juniors -Vs- U12s - Away

20 Nov 2005
Kick-off 13:30

Lost: 7 - 4

A nice sunny Sunday afternoon for us ,when we arrive for the game against Sedbergh Juniors.
Idle kick off and are straight into their game, Big Jake Rhoads is back in his midfield birth ,along side Captain James, who interchange well , to create and early chance, for Jake Kumar and Oli,but to no avail.
Sedbergh make there way down field and test our back four , of Jamie, Jordan Mullaney,Jordan Hizzet and Josh and making his debut in nets is our midfield dynamo Sam Dutton.
Good interchange play between Josh and Thomas sends Jake Kumar free, as he tries to power his way towards goal, with Oli screaming for the ball, the defender half covers Oli ,giving Jake Kumar the chance to brig a good save from the opposition keeper.
Our Subs today are Leighland,Daniel and Alex, are all warming up, hoping for their chance to influence the game.
The game progresses into to an end to end thriller, which Idle have more than a say in bossing the final outcome, we draw level with a Goal from Oli,which accompany two great goals from James and one from fellow forward Jake Kumar, but we run out of steam 10 mins from time and end up loosing 7-4,ah well, another great game of football, but sadly the wrong result, one day someone is going to get a sound beating, to match all the good football that we play.

SQUAD: James Bennett (2) [Cptn], Dale Chadwick, Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton [GK], Alex Green, Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar (1), Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay (1), Jake Rhoads, Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

U12s -Vs- Bingley Juniors - Home

13 Nov 2005
Kick-off 13:30

Lost: 3 - 5

The under 12s entertain a very good Bingley junior side today , on a wet and cold Sunday afternoon we are look forward to seeing just how far that, we have come since suffering an early season defeat, to our accomplished visitors today.
Captain James wins the toss and we play up the hill ,we start strongly, with Jordan Hizzett playing in midfield and snapping into the tackle, in typical fashion,Dale is his usual busy self down our left hand side and big Jake Rhoads is occupying the right hand side of midfield.
We apply a lot of early pressure, through Jake Khumar and Oli looking lively upfront. We are passing the ball around well and our opposition must be wondering, if they are at the right ground this afternoon
Our defence are being well marshalled by the ever reliant Jamie Sugden at it’s heart, along side Thomas Dolby, they attack down our left flank, for a sustained period, but Josh holds firm , well supported by Dale, who has dropped well into his new role and is a threat to the Bingley goal through out.
As half time approaches our subs are sent to warm up by coach Tony Sugden and as Leighland,Danny,Alex and Jan have a little joke as they go through their warm up routines, Tony reminds them, that this is a squad game and that they may be called into action at any moment!
Into the second half and the subs are interchanged and try to influence the game, we are starting to tire and the Bingley midfield are starting to run the game, with Jake K and Oli becoming more and more isolated as the game unfolds and in the end we tire during the last ten minutes and despite good efforts from Sam in goals , Jordan Mullaney and Jamie Sugden , we end up on the wrong end of a 5-3 defeat, our goals coming from James , Dale and man of the match Jake Kumar .
After the game Roger and Tony ,tell the lads , that the effort that they put in was far better and that we should be proud, that we pushed a very good team all the way and that despite the fact that ours is still a very new and young side ,our time will surely come!

SQUAD: James Bennett (1) [Cptn], Dale Chadwick (1), Jan Dirda, Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton [GK], Alex Green, Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar (1), Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay, Jake Rhoads, Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

Eclleshill Eagles -Vs- U12s - Away

30 Oct 2005
Kick-off 15:30

Won: 2 - 5

A very cold and windy afternoon greets us as, we arrive for this relegation dog fight, as we take up our position on the side lines, Alan Dolby takes what is now his customary lineman’s flag and we are ready for the off.
As is usual now, we are straight down to the opposition goal and start to exert a great deal pressure, with Captain James Bennett, pulling the strings in midfield, once again well supported by the tireless Sam Dutton, who are also helped out by Danny Scott playing a blinder down the left, we keep pushing forward but to no avail yet.
A rare sortie by the opposition into our half and Dale (making a rare start in Goals), is called into action, not much gets past the new centre half partnership of Jamie Sugden and Thomas Dolby, who are well backed up by Josh and Jordan Mullaney, we do look a tight unit at the back and a lot of the credit has to go down to coaches Roger and Tony.
A long ball over the top and Oli is on his bike, he outpaces the defence into the area, only for the keeper to make a brave save at his feet, luckily both players are okay to carry on and are soon back in action. Oli`s pace and Jake Kumar’s strength on the ball are causing all sorts of problems, for the opposition defence.
The game is an end-to-end thriller and with goals from Danny Scott, man of the match James Bennett (2) and Jake Kumar (2), Idle come out the better of the 5-2 score line. It must also be said that Idle now have a new strength in depth, with Alex and Leighland coming off the bench to secure the result.
A great game and a great result at last!
A last a smile from Roger during his post match team talk, or was it perhaps relief, that Oli`s Grandma Denise could not find the ground (so there was no usual flood of goals, to signal her arrival!).

SQUAD: James Bennett (2) [Cptn], Dale Chadwick [GK], Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton, Alex Green, Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar (2), Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay, Daniel Scott (1), Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

Eccleshill United A -Vs- U12s - Away

16 Oct 2005
Kick-off 11:00

Lost: 5 - 1

As we stand on the sidelines and watch both teams warming up, you cannot help but notice the Eccleshill team and there composure on the ball, in particular their forward line.
The game kicks off and we are straight down to the opposition goal, with us showing a real threat to their well organised back line, through Oli and Dale in particular catching the eye up front.
Eccleshill look very strong as they work the ball through the midfield well, despite the efforts of Danny Scott and the industrious Sam Dutton.
Our back four of Jamie Sugden, Jordan Mullaney, Jordan Hizzett and Josh Mazurke, backed up by Alex Green in goal, cope well with the impressive forward play of the opposition, but as before we seem to tire, during the latter stages of the game and despite, good determined efforts from, man of the match Jake Kumar and Jan Dirda, plus a fine solo effort from Dale, we end up loosing 5-1.
As usual Rogers post match team talk is full of optimism for the good football, that we are now playing and admiration for the opposition, but other factors are now on our minds, is it perhaps the arrival of Oil’s Grandma Denise, that seems to trigger the onslaught on our goal (as in previous games) or the omission once again, of Alfie the Border collie, from the starting line up??

SQUAD: James Bennett [Cptn], Dale Chadwick (1), Jan Dirda, Thomas Dolby, Sam Dutton, Alex Green [GK], Jordan Hizzett, Jake Kumar, Joshua Mazurke, Jordan Mullaney, Oliver Ramsay, Jake Rhoads, Daniel Scott, Jamie Sugden, Leighland Whitehead.

Lost: 4 - nil

A very cold windy afternoon , at Peel Park saw the Under 12s arrive full of hope, that at last they might break their duck and finally get that first elusive win and send them down that well trodden road (Bolton Road) back to Idle dreaming of a top half finish.
As the game kicked off, it soon became apparent that Undercliffe , were a very well organised side , were at least for now , too strong for our lads and deservedly coming out 4-0 winners , despite the efforts of , Josh ,Jake Rhoads , Alex Green in goals and man of the match Dale Chadwick.

U12s -Vs- Sedbergh Crusaders - Home

25 Sep 2005
Kick-off 10:30

Lost: nil - 7

Another autumn afternoon sees the lads turn up full of hope, after yet another intense training session, the previous Thursday evening, which as usual was taken by Roger and Tony.
Standing on the sidelines, you can see the difference, in the quality of football that the lads are playing and surely before long their time will come.
The match starts brightly for Idle with early pressure and quality football being played by, man of the match James Bennett, Jake Kumar and the lively Dale Chadwick, not to last though and Sedbergh counter and start to put real pressure on our back line and calling Alex Green into a couple of good stops, Jordan Hizzett and Jamie Sugden try to hold firm, but to no avail, we quickly go three goals down, but you have to admire our back lines resolve.
In the second half we tire dramatically and end up the wrong side of a 7-0 score line, but after a few words from Roger in the post match talk, the Lads head off up Apperley lane home full of optimism.
